Taboo from the outside

I know there’s a number of stories like this on the site but the idea has been interesting me for some more.

Essentially stories where the POV is with someone who discovers an incestous incident or relationship. They don’t necessarily get involved (in fact I prefer when they don’t) and may or may not be related to the pair or more they come across.

For example: While daughter is away at college mom has aunt move in with her. Daughter is happy: aunt was always really supportive and helped mom get out of an abusive marriage.

She comes back early for the holidays and no one greets her when she arrives so she sneaks upstairs to her room but here’s noises from her mother’s bedroom. She peeks inside and sees her mother and aunt having wild, passionate sex. She’s horrified and disgusted at first but as she sees the way the two look at each other, she starts to wonder if maybe there’s more to what she’s seeing.

Or:

New neighbors pop up in a suburb. It’s an older man (mid 40s to 50s) and a young woman (under 30). They seem nice though they’re surprised when the woman is not some trophy wife by rather the man’s daughter…especially with how she dresses around the house. Still, they both are nice and are well liked around the town. One night one of the neighbors is going for a late night stroll though and sees the two of them getting intimate in the backyard.

So stories like that. I definitely would prefer they be lighthearted (a lot of the examples I have seen on the site are darker) with the POV character unsure of what they should do with the information

This being Lit, the POV narrator likely gets involved, though a masturbation version could also work. Oh, the shame (s)he must feel!

I did think of a new scenario where the POV gets involved. It is darker than I was initially wanting BUT I think there’s some dramatic potential in it.

POV is an uncle whose sister and kids’ flight (trip to celebrate son or daughter graduating college) went down 2-3 years ago. He’s always held out hope that they’re alive and his faith is paid off when he gets a call that they were found and rescued from a deserted island.

Uncle has them move in with him and he does his best to give them space and affection in equal amounts. However they’re really reluctant to talk to therapists and do some odd things (he finds them all sleeping in the same bed, mom and daughter shower together, hoarding food, etc.). He takes it in stride but he also subtly puts cameras in rooms around the house so he can observe what they’re doing when he’s gone.

While he’s gone on a business trip one week he finally finds out their secret:

During their time trapped on the island they began a sexual relationship. Nephew took on an almost patriarchal role and his niece and sister effectively were his wives. He sees on the cameras how they finally let their hair down as they get to resume their previous roles. While it’s definitely wrong…they seem happy.

When Uncle returns, he sets about trying to carefully break them out of that relationship so they can finally start adapting to the real world again (I figure he doesn’t even ban them having sex though he sets rules that they need to make new friends). Of course his family also try to pull him into their world: nephew doesn’t mind sharing, niece would like to know what another man feels like and sis knows he’s secretly had a crush on her for some time).

So while there is lots of sex it’s about a family trying to get over a traumatic event and move on whether in a healthy or unhealthy way.

Plenty of potential here, especially if it's kept light. I wrote a story where I as the narrator was relating a story as told by a mother. Not quite the same thing, but now you've got me thinking!

Thanks! I definitely prefer light (in fact my favorite taboo stories are ones where the ridiculousness is played up or it’s just a pretty happy time for everyone).

The idea for this thread actually came from a comic I read like a decade ago:

Mom tells dad to go upstairs and check on kids as she hasn’t heard from them in awhile: dad soon discovers that bro and sis are fucking and imagines a couple scenarios of how he should confront them

He imagines coming down hard on them and then they leave due to him trying to outright shut things down.

He then imagines being too accepting and trying to join in and the kids leaving because they don’t want to share a home with a pervert.

Ultimately he sneakily tosses some condoms into the room and decides to let them be. When his wife comes upstairs he then quickly distracts her by taking her to bed and it’s later revealed that his wife is now pregnant with their third child.

It’s a silly comic but I kind of like it for that.
