So why didn't Vince Carter stand up and say "Jordan can take my spot on the all-star starting lineup" as well?

MJ says "thanks but no thanks"

Of the three, I fail to understand why Vince is there other than the fact that fans still think of him as the high flying slam master of a few years ago and not the oft-injured street clothes wearing player he is now.

Both Allen Iverson and Tracy McGrady average over 25 points a night and are team MVP's .. Vince? Hell I'd say if a Raptor deserved a spot on the team, it would be Antonio Davis.

Vince keeps sticking to his "I don't want to disapoint the fans"

Ya know what VC? If you stepped aside for MJ this one time, I think the fans could find some way to forgive you.

Hey the dumbest sports fan in the world stops by, just to say hello.

MJ doesn't want a starting position he didn't get voted to. It's a dead issue.

Stars #1.. just remember that all the way to July.

And pray like fucking hell for your sorry ass sake I am dead wrong on the Fakers or else you'll never hear the end of it from me.

Well, if you had anything to say to me about it I would. All I said about the lakers is that the defending champs deserve the benefit of the doubt until they aren't the defending champs anymore.

That and you're a doofus for talking shit before the playoffs. But that's old hat.

Also, was that the lowly Raptors, sparked by Vince Carter's 22 points, who bitchslapped the Kings last sunday?

Well, at least he'll be there.

Not like baseball's All-Star Game, where many stars don't even show up because of "injury," or play two innings and then leave.

TB4p

It's much like the Lakers.. One blip on the radar screen does not take away the fact that they are out of the playoffs and doing even worse than the Lakers.

Just like the Lakers, if they turn it around - like they did last season when Carter went on the shelf - I'll be one of the first to give them credit.

Speaking of the Lakers.. Phil has gotten into the act of blasting the bench:

But we do know that our bench is not giving us a damn thing. We've got to have something out there besides just sustained effort. They've got to score.

That blast by Phil resulted in guys like Horry getting more fired up and driven.. So I will at least admit Phil is starting to do something - anything - to turn his team around.

But I won't be convinced the Lakers are back until they do go on a huge 10-0 run.. Or at least beat the Kings tommorow night. And when I say beat I don't mean squeek out a win. They need to prove they are in fact back to championship form. Then maybe I'll say I was wrong and that I should have given them the benifit of the doubt.

Or hockey's all star game for that matter.. Mats and Belfour looked fine versus the Canes the other night. Not that I blame them though really.. it's a long season, they are key members.. and even though there isn't much contact in the all-star game they still do risk re-injury by playing.

Again, why should someone who likes the Lakers care about the opinion of a fan who cheers on a team of notorious choke artists? At least he has the three consecutive championships to think about.

I mean, you're best player is more likely to see the inside of a jail cell than a championship ring. What kind of position are you in to talk?

Neither Vince Carter Nor Michael Jordan deserve a All Star Spot!

The All Star game is about RIGHT NOW, what are you doing this year. Not what have you done in the past but what have you done latley.

I lost A LOT of respect for Michael Jordan for not stepping aside and giving Jerry Stackhouse His spot on the All Star team. Jerry is the NBA player leading the Wizards in scoring NOT Michael Jordan.

Vince took Jalen Roses spot on the team just as Jordan took Jerry's rightful spot.

Actually, the starting positions on the All-Star teams are about who the fans want to see. The remaining positions are left up to coaches.

The all star game is not really about rewarding excellence.

Vince is the fans fault.
Jordan's is the coaches fault.

Vince was voted in by the fans.
Jordan was awarded the position via the "Old Boys" Network who feel marketing is more important than hard work and skill.

Jordan said originally he would not play unless he was voted a starter by the dans.

Now that Jordan was named a reserve by the coaches he said he changed his mind and will play after all.

Jordan is a phoney....

They shouldn't! Good god man you think I am saying all this because I think the Lakers are on Lit right now reading these thoughts??

I just state my thoughts because I can. I say them because I'm a fan and I feel like making comments on what I see. I could care less who pays attention and who doesn't.. I could care less if anyone agrees with me or doesn't.

But I love talking sports and I like to hear others opinions on it. Seems to me Weevil you are the only one who can't stand that other people would have an opinion and be vocal about it.

I bet the concept of sports radio and call in shows must piss you off big time. It has to. I can just see you sitting in front of a radio after a caller has called in to voice his opinion:

You can't say that!! What makes you think you can say that?? Do you think Ed Belfour cares what you think?! What do you know?? You're just a simple fan!! You can't make comments like that! How dare you say you think the Senators will win the Cup! Have they in the past?! You have to say Detroit will because they are the champs!! You can't say anything because you're just a fan and until the playoffs are finished, you can't say anything!

As for the Lakers.. I really doubt they are on Lit right now checking out my opinion.. And even on the small chance they were I'd hope they wouldn't stress out over some kid from west Canada slamming them.

Yo, Shaq.. we gotta step it up man.. Liontamr is PISSED that we aren't playing like we should, that you ripped Yao Ming and that we blasted our own bench publicly!

I hear ya Kobe.. Liontamr knows his shit man.. He's right, I should just say sorry to Yao. I'm going to do that as soon as I sit the entire bench down and have a good heart to heart with them.

Coach Phil said something today as well about cutting out the zen antics and getting down to some serious coaching drills.. all because Liontamr said he should.

Damn.. Liontamr is so right about us.. He's gonna help us four-peat man!

Just one question Shaq..

What's that Kobe?

Who in the freekin hell is Liontamr??

I said someone who likes the Lakers, not the Lakers themselves.

After you learn more about Sports I suggest you bone up on your reading.

It's nobodies fault. The fans should be faulted for who they want to see play in the all-star game? Mighty self-important of you, don't you think?

Jordan is indeed a phoney. He's also the greatest Basketball player of all time. If he wants to play one more all star game are you really going to bitch about not getting to see Jalen Rose launch contested 20 footers?

Same goes for "someone who likes the Lakers"

I really don't give a shit if someone takes me seriously or not.. I really don't give a shit if someone thinks I am wrong or right.. And I really don't give a shit if someone cares or not about what I have to say.

Like I've said .. they are my opinions. What you choose to do with them is up to you. Wipe your ass with them for all I care.

Just don't tell me I can't have an opinion because I sure the hell can and will continue to state it.

YES!
I am a Bulls Fan, I live in the Chicago area.
We have not had an all Star selection since 1998 even though Elton Brand deserved to be there for two years and Jalen Rose deserved to be there this year AND last year.

Jalen Rose has NEVER been to an All Star Game.
Jordan has been to a billion of them.

Jalen Rose is getting old, the window of opportunity for him to go there is closing fast.
Jordan has been there so many times and now he is getting to go now days even though he DOSEN'T deserve to go.

Jalen is averaging like 23.1 PPG
Jordan is averaging around 17-18 PPG.

Do you think in a few years when Jalen is older and is NOT playing at an all Star caliber HE is going to get voted in anyway out of deference and respect? NO!

Well it's nice to know that you're in an extreme minority. Most people would rather watch Jordan. Tough luck for you I suppose.

BTW there's a big difference between scoring 23 per game as your teams first option and 18 as your teams second option.

LT, I don't like stupid opinions based on a tragic misunderstanding of sports. It's my opinion. Tough for you if you don't like it.

Also, are you really comparing Michael Jordan to Jalen Rose? There's a bit of difference there.

Anyone who thinks there is no room for honoring legends at the NBA All Star game simply hasn't been around long enough. Lots of guys have been given All Star send offs.

Yeah, the difference is that Jalen Rose is playing like an All Star this year and Michael Jordan is not. Jalen is playing with passion and skill and Jordan is playing like the old man he is.

Yeah, he his team's second option because his team mate Jerry Stackhouse is a better player than he is!

By Your own very logic last year Rip Hamilton should have been the Wizards rep. to the All Star Team becuase HE was the Wizards second scoring option and second leading scorer to Michael Jordan.

Essentially Jordan is Richard Hamilton to Jerry Stackhouses Micael Jordan this year.

Seems to me you are the one that knows very little about sports here or you are too busy brown-nosing Jordan like he's some kind of God.

No, that wasn't my point. By using a simple one category comparison you're ignoring the complexities of the game. MJ is a great player at the tail end of a career. He is still playing very well and even if you want to quibble about the fact that there might be some more deserving out there you are historically incorrect if you think the all-star game doesn't make allowances for past performance.

For the record Jordan's stats are

18 ppg
1.65 spg
5.6 rpg
3.8 apg

Rose's are

23 ppg
.8 spg
4.3 rpg
4.6 apg

Also Jordan is shooting at a higher % than Rose is. So Jordan is outperforming Rose in 3 of the 5 categories that matter most to guards.

Try again, bitch.

Jordan is a has been, there are MANY other players with comparable stats that could make the ALL Star team as a guard with a PPG average in the area of Jordan's like Ricky Davis, Allan Houston, Glen Robinson, Rip Hamilton, and Sam Cassell.

Get your tongue out of Jordan's asshole, I don't think he wants you tossing his salad anymore.

Jordan: 18 PPG
Jalen: 23.2 PPG

Jordan: 3.8 APG
Jalen: 4.6 APG

Jordan: 5.6 RPG
Jalen: 4.3 RPG

Jordan: .801 FT %
Jalen: .838 FT %

Jordan: .333 3-pt %
Jalen: .379 3-pt %

Jordan: 35 MPG
Jalen: 41.1 MPG

Jordan: 31 games started
Jalen: 45 games started

Jordan is clearly the inferior player here!

You know, you can whine and bitch all you want. The truth is that people would rather see a guy scoring 18 for a decent team who is one of the greatest players of all time then a mediocre chucker on a crappy team. Boo-hoo for bulls fans. I'll enjoy watching #23 while you're at home with no girls crying about Jalen.

I'd rather have Jerry Stackhouse too:
23 PPG
4.8 APG
4 RPG
0.9 SPG
0.5 BPG
.874 FT%
.321 3-pt%
.419 FG%
39.3 MPG

Wrong! The Wizards are a crappy team as well.

I would rather see Karl Malone in the game than Jordan. Karl Malone deserves the berth more than Jordan does this year.

Michael Finley of the Mavs is a better shooting guard than Michael Jordan is and he didn't get into the All Star game either...Although admittedly Finley is in the Western Conference as well.
