Synesthesia is when you hear music, but you see shapes. Or you hear a word or a name and instantly see a color. Synesthesia is a fancy name for when you experience one of your senses through another. For example, you might hear the name "Alex" and see green. Or you might read the word "street" and taste citrus fruit.

I see music and associate numbers and emotions with colors and textures. I also have a lot of visual and tactile kinks. Being bound puts me into a sub space where I feel a sublime calmness and security. Being toyed and played with, especially while helpless and blindfolded produces a light show in my mind as well as a wide variety of stimulations.

Is this common for kink? What do you see or feel that may not be directly related to what is happening?

I’m surprised more kinksters aren’t in on this, though maybe they are and just don’t share.

I read an erotic short story once about a professional Dom who had a client who asked to be bound and used roughly while listening to certain music. Later the client went home to her studio and painted crazy abstractions while listening to the same music. When she had a gallery show she invited the Dom who didn’t know about the inspiration for the art until the artist explained that it was what she ‘saw’ while in sub space.

When the artist asked for the Dom’s feedback she told her she needed to put her name first and in large bold letters, the artist could put her name in small all lowercase after that.

I’d love to be inspired like that.
