My idea for this is essentially taking the Star Wars universe and putting it into a high fantasy setting. Instead of planets, there are cities and regions, and instead of starships, there are airships. Instead of lightsabers, Jedi and Sith wield magical straight-bladed katana that can act as a conduit for the Force -- a non-Force-user will never be able to unlock a Forceblade's true potential.
There is only one main continent, with many thousands of smaller islands scattered throughout the Great Sea. On the other side of the planet, there is a chain of islands that seem to have a magically-induced drought, minimizing rainfall and turning the inland areas of these islands into a desert environment. Islands in this area include Tatooine and Korriban, and they are mostly ignored by the larger world, making them a breeding ground for scum and villainy. One old legend states that the drought is a curse originating from the old Sith Temples on Korriban, and that ghosts of the former Dark Lords haunt the island.
In the Corelands -- the main continent -- Coruscant sits as the capital of the World Republic, with other cities such as Alderaan and Corellia nearby. There is a Jedi Temple in Coruscant, but they train new younglings in the Jedi Academy located farther north in the Tython Mountains.
There are many different races on the planet, which is a result of the Builders -- the Rakata -- tampering with genetic structures thousands of years ago. They have long since died out, and any traces of their technology have been lost to time... for now.
As for the story, I'm thinking we could say that the Sith were thought to be dead centuries ago with their final defeat at Korriban. Our characters could be a crew of sky pirates or mercenaries that decide to loot the old Sith Temples, despite the warnings and legends. Ultimately, what we experience there turns us into Sith temporarily, and we are given great knowledge by the dark spirits that dwell in the temples. Once we leave the island, the influence of the Sith fades, but there is still that lingering lust for more power. In the weeks and months that follow, we will each have to face the darkness within us, and ultimately decide whether to overcome it or succumb to it.
I will play a pair of brothers that end up on each side -- one light, one dark. The dark brother will go on to see the rise of a new Sith Empire, while the light brother will join the Jedi Order and attempt to thwart the dark brother. Your characters can be Jedi or Sith, or if you don't want to play a Force-user, you could still be effected by the dark influence in Korriban and still have the same choice whether or not to give into your inner demons.
