Sweet, sweet revenge (closed)

((OOC: didn't know if this was where you wanted me to go with this... if not, let me know, i'll try again. this is just what popped into my head after reading your intro.))

Kate was a successful lawyer at a big law firm... She was assertive, straighforward, and cold-hearted. She won her cases easily... It was a natural talent to her.

Tracey has met Troy some years ago... She had been in college, and he had picked her up one night at a local dive bar. They'd went back to her place, did the nasty, and he went home the next morning. They saw eachother several times over the course of a few weeks, and they were somewhat of an item.

Things went sharply downhill when Kate found Troy in bed with another woman... Particularly her roommate, her best friend. She was more than furious... She went into a fit of rage. She swore to him she'd get even... And now, years later, it was her chance.

She knew he was innocent... But did everything in her power to make sure he was proven guilty. And alas, he was. She smiled to him as she left the courtroom with her client... She was satisfied with her work. She had finally gotten even.

Perverse said:
"Trevor Walker, of the Kentucky Walker Whiskey Family, it's pleasure to meet you Miss.....It is Miss, isn't it?"

Kate shook his hand firmly. "Miss Michaels," she said, somewhat annoyed at his false southern charm. Something about him seemed very familiar, but she couldn't figure out what it was. She lingered a moment before walking further into her office.

"Please, have a seat." She motioned him to the chair, and sat comfortably in her oversized office chair. "What brings you to my office today, Mr. Walker? What can I do for you?" She folded her hands carefully on the desk, leaning forward slightly... A small glimpse of clevage peeking out over her blouse.

Kate smiled professionally as he explained his case to her. Nothing out of the ordinary, she'd handled plenty of cases just like it. The fact that this was the Kentucky Walker Whiskey family made it almost laughable. She'd have a hard time proving innocence, just because of the family name and business... But she felt confident she could handle it. As long as she could arrange for the proper judge to hear the case...

Her eyes skimmed through the file as he continued to speak... She flipped through a few pages before he offered to board her for a weekend. That's odd, she thought. Most clients don't invite their lawyers to a sleep over... Especially before they've won the case.

"Well, Mr. Walker," she said, closing the manilla folder on the desk. "I'd like to take some time to review the case file... As I understand my senior partners have accepted your case. I'd just like to give it a good thorough look-through. I'm sure you understand."

She stood and shook his hand as he prepared to leave. She remained professional, and did not turn down his offer. She didn't exactly accept it, either.

"We'll be in touch, Mr. Walker." She said as he turned and exited her office.

She leaned back in her chair after he'd left, deep in thought. This situation was just too strange... She opened the file once more, examining it more carefully. Everything looked legit... Nothing odd or out of place.

Kate picked up the card, looking at it carefully.

The Kentucky Walker Whiskey logo was emblazoned in the upper left corner.
"Trevor Walker, Executive Officer," she read. She skipped down to the address, studying it carefully. Where the hell is this place, anyways? She turned to her computer, the monitor flashing to life. She quickly navigated to MapQuest.com, and typed in the address.

Now that's something... The website pointed her to a deserted end of town. Surely the Walker Family's estate isn't out in this area... There must be some mistake... She looked at the card again. It was no mistake... She had the correct address.

She sat in front of the monitor for a moment, before deciding to consult with one of the senior partners. She picked up the phone, and dialed Todd's extension.

"Hey, Todd? I've got a question for you. A matter of conscience, I suppose you could say..." She briefly explained the situation from start to finish. He told her they had offered their support of his case, which was not surprising. He also warned her of the dangers of visiting him over the weekend. "Don't do anything you're uncomfortable with, Kate. Number one rule in life. I'd call him back, apologize and decline. Tell him you'll take the case, but you'd prefer to keep your relationship with him and his family strictly professional."

She thanked Todd for the advice, and went into the lobby to see her secretary. "Hey, Janie... Hold my calls for me. I'm going out for a cup of coffee. Want anything?" She left the building, traveling a few blocks to the coffee shop, clearing her head along the way.

She returned to the office some time later, feeling refreshed. She picked up the phone, and dialed Trevor's number. "Good afternoon, Mr. Walker. It's Kate Michaels. I hate to turn down such a tempting offer, but I'm afraid I won't be making it to your estate this weekend..."
