There are not a lot of romantic film that I like but this one is great in my opinion.

It's funny, romantic, happy, dramatic, tragic, sad, lovely, silly, serious, etc....

And it proves a couple of things:

- Keanu Reeves couldn't act to save his life
- Charlize Theron is HOT !
- Charlize Theron is a superb actress that truly deserves her Oscar
- Romantic movies can be enjoyed by males
- Puppies are always cute and adorable ( :) )
- Sad endings can be happy endings can be sad endings.....
- I can listen to Enya and NOT think of 9/11

- Did I mention Keanu Reeves can't act?

The only reason she and her 'Only time' are super-famous is because some radiostation decided to play her song mixed with sounds and comments of the attacks after 9/11

No, it'S an old one. I just happened to watch it again because they decided to show it Nov. 1st.

But I gotta warn you, I was close to crying at times and that means a lot. It's romantic-tragic.

Snoopy, :)

one ot look out for then Snoop :) I do like a good old weep at times :)

Joe.....honestly you think he can act? or was that sarcasm? He can do quiet and brooding (aka first Matrix where little to knoe emotion was involved for him to actually act) and wild and wacky (like in bill and ted) but erm nothing else *L*

Ad any kind of passion and he's like a fish out of water (the later 2 of the Matrix trilogy show that)

But then I don't think he even looks that good meself....

He can act only when he has good supporting actors helping him along. On his own he doesnt have the skills to make the viewer drawn to him, maybe with his sexy ass but thats about it.

Enya (Eithne Ní Bhraonáin) is, and has been, a well-known folk artist for the past two decades, since she left her family singing group, Clannad, in 1982.

Her second recoding for WEA entitled Watermark sold over ten million copies worldwide and has gone platinum in fourteen different countries. From it, her single Orinoco Flow' became a No 1 hit in Britain. She repeated this success with Shepherd Moons -- 199 weeks on the Billboard charts in the USA with over 11 million copies sold.

Enya’s music has been featured in many movies (and soundtrack recordings) beside Sweet November. These include: L.A. Story, Green Card, Toys, Far and Away, Age Of Innocence, and Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.”

Keanu, like Arnold, can act when he secures the proper role.

Like, for instance, when either gets to play emotionless automatons.

Of course I knew about LOTR.

Oh and concerning Keanu....well, I wouldn't call it acting.

I'd rather say Keanu Reeves is the best-paid extra in Hollywood's history.

I didn't know she sold that many albums ... but I was aware that she was famous before 9/11 ;). I own a "Best of ... " Album of her as well as her latest (Without rain). My remark towards Snoopy was more tongue in cheek ...

In all honesty, one small point of truth in deference of Keanu Reeves:

Keanu suffers from working from the wrong side of the actor/movie star dichotomy.

He is a good actor with a limited range. For better or worse, he is forever attempting to stretch his range. The result is that occasionally he over reaches his ability, or is badly cast.

This predilection for trying to stretch his ability in highly visible roles makes Keanu a fearless actor, but a poor movie star. A movie star arranges to work in packages created around his limitations, to mimic roles that he has previously played. In this way, the movie star never need accept a role which might damage his image.

It truly is fun, making dismissive comment about Keanu’s talent.

The truth is that there are several stars out there with bigger reps. who have never strayed one millimeter beyond the very narrow limits of their ability. They remain popular stars, but will never become actors.

Must the desire to grow be penalized?

When you next see Keanu in an unsuited role, ask yourself whether the person who cast him there does not also bear some of the responsibility?

I don't want to ruin your idol but no one has yet named me a film where Keanu really had a good performance.

In my opinion his best performance was 'Bill & Ted'. :)

Keanu Reeves is not my idol. In point of fact, I doubt that I have seen half of his movies. Your dismissal, is simply undeserved.

Keanu did turn in an acceptable to good performance in:
River's Edge, Dangerous Liaisons, Point Break, Speed. The Matrix, Sweet November, and The Replacements

Keanu was adequate in:
Johnny Mnemonic, A Walk in the Clouds, and My Own Private Idaho.

He was violently miscast in:
Much Ado About Nothing .

And cast in a totally regrettable movie in:
Chain Reaction (Stone the Director!)

Keanu’s best at playing characters who have slightly-diminished mental capacities (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure), or are laboring to keep up with others of superior intellect, (Speed), or who is not in on a secret.(Point Break & The Matrix).

There is a difference between playing and being dumb. It takes skill to maintain a character with a consistent level of inferiority.

The best (and most extreme) example of this is Goldie Hawn. After watching her performance as a dits, on Laugh-In and believing she was that incompetent, the first time she appeared in a movie (playing a dits - Cactus Flower) the Academy was so shocked she could act, they gave her a totally undeserved Oscar. (Things balance, she earned several later, without winning.)

All too often, the performance is mistaken for the person. It is one of the traps of performing a type well.
