I've spent the last few days in anxiety, hiding in the dark corners of my Mistress's house. I knew when she died I would be taken to the slave pounds but I didn't even want to think about it. There, all unowned slaves were kept in cages. They were hardly ever fed and it was dark, wet, and uncomfortable. Today, however, I was captured. One of my late Mistress's helpers had found me and beat me mercilessly. "Stupid animal," he screamed, "It's off to the pounds for you." I didn't struggle as he tied me up and straped me to the back of his horse. He mounted the horse and began to ride. He obviously wanted to sell me for a bit of money to atleast keep the Mistress's house running. At the end of the long ride into town, the man took me off the horse, and led me, still bound, into the large building. I had been there before. Packed dirt floors were lined with cages filled with naked, miserable bodies. He handed me to a guard. The guard took me to an empty cage, hit me over the head with something, and threw me in. Everything went black as I heard the lock on the cage's door click.
It's been a few days since that time and still, I have no owner. Several people have stoped infront of my cage to look me over and a few have even come inside to feel my skin and get a closer look. But still, no one has been really interested. All I want is for someone to buy me so that I could atleast get out of this place.
