There was a time when violent militarized police "SWAT" raids were reserved only for genuine emergency situations such as a hostage taking, barricaded suspect, bank robbery, active shooter event, armed standoff, terrorist incident, etc...
But today, they are routinely being used on a daily basis to arrest people for trivial misdemeanor crimes, code violations, and regulatory offenses.

Police militarization is becoming a terrifying problem in America and is getting worse by the day. Throughout the past several decades, dozens of innocent and unarmed citizens have been killed during botched and unnecessary paramilitary police raids.
Cases of police brutality have also skyrocketed in the past 15 years or so..
