That necessarily limits the activity, but it's just way more satisfying for us than what I remember from the late 70s, early 80s.

In those times we just had sex with whomever happend to be close and horny. Sometimes friendships developed, but usually only with sex as the common thread, not other shared interests.

t's an interesting question and the answers given thus far have been revealing.
In our case I was highly turned on by swapping but it made my ex wife jealous.
My ex wife and I started "swinging" back in the early 1980's. The original idea was that we would meet other like minded couples and gradually build up to full on partner swapping.
We met several couples and ended up have same room sex in front of each other, but not swapping partners, we both enjoyed this. we also exchanged home videos with other couples, this is well before the internet. I often wonder if any of these have ever ended up on line. Our first real encounter was an MFM 3'sum. my wife loved it, she became hooked.
We did eventually swap partners, same room sex, with a very small number of couples but my wife didn't like it. She found while she enjoyed the sex, she couldn't cope seeing me with other women.
