rhetorical or not, the answer to your question was an encyclopedia the kid took in where they were studying something about space, maybe jupiter though i can't recall, and he took the book in to show the class the great stuff in there about space he'd been looking at whilst home. the teacher 'noticed' this same book also had a section about pregnancy. duh....
