Well, after much discussion on the isolated Blurt thread I decided to actually get the lit sugery support club going. :D

McKenna, Vana and I are the founder members with Imp and Desert Pirate taking honourary memberships with us.

This thread is for anyone who knows they, or a friend or family member, are going to have surgery sometime in the future.

It's just a place to hang out, to ask for support or just to have a laugh.

I'm 99% sure I'm going to be having surgery on thyroid nodules sometime soon, I've got to have a CT scan first and get some blood test results. I'll keep you informed as things progress. :)

Just for Jag, a list of Surgery Buddies! :p

I'll say a prayer for your quick and full recovery.

Good Luck to all.

I still need some but it won't be soon. Tore the ACL in the left knee in 91, now it's getting bad. I'll live awhile longer. Need some work on the back too, it can wait. I think I have become allergic to scalpels.

Then again, if they perfect a skeleton transplant

I think I had plenty of cutting on Active Duty but y'all have my complete sympathy. The only thing I can see coming up is lipo-laser!

EL, Hot Mama had her thyroids removed nearly 40 years ago. They were malignant. She's still around. ;)

Thank you!
Good luck with it EL!

Cheers, love. how are you, you can be a surgery budfdy if you like!

Well that's encouraging. :) I'm not too worried, well, not right now anyways. *L*If it needs doing it needs doing, simple as that :)

LOL it'd be much appreciated!

Actually leaving shortly for a followup appt with the Navy, ugh. Civilian doc says I might be able to get new glasses come July, seems right now my eye is something like oh...20/400 [was 20/220 before]

Not yet. When DRs see all the scars, they get this silly grin and start honing a scalpel.

*laughs* oh dear that doesn't sound good. I've only been under the knife once before, when i broke my wrist oooh, 5 years ago now. I had to have pins in it.

LOL it'd be much appreciated!

hope the appointment goes well, love.

Just finished mine but you can add me to the list for the same reason you can add Imp.

Oooh yay, we have the set now :D Hello Mr Editor, how're you doing?

I've had five. Is that enough to make me an honorary member?

Definitely, welcome to the club!

I'm going back next month for another laser eye thing.

oooooooh you're going to have laser eyes, cool! Make sure they don't go off by accident though, could be a bit messy could that. :D

Just a five minute zap in the office to get rid of some scar tissue on my retina. I'll ask about those laser eyes, though. That could come in very handy.

Oh yeah, what a line.

"hey, wanna see my lasers?" ;)

:kiss::rose::heart:

I'm in, mine is scheduled for July 9th. Heck I'm gonna need good vibes just to get me ass out of bed at 3:30am to get to the hospital in time. I got so worried about the husband nearly passing out over the surgery talk at my appointment with the surgeon I forgot to ask how long I'll be in. Maybe they'll tell me thursday when the do the pre-admission tests.

-chuckles- I'm thinking you should start a list of members on the front page.

A Club I ought to join :D

I was diagnosed with Class 3 sleep anopia today... which means I don't really sleep. I'll be getting a sleep machine in 3-4 weeks, meanwhile... I'm banned from driving as I'm considered too dangerous to drive  Fat lot of use when I'd driven to the hospital, by myself and it was a fifteen mile drive back. The machine readouts show I 'stop breathing' for minutes at a time, the brain brings me back to consciousness, which allows me to start breathing again for a couple of minutes before the process starts over.

As far as Op's go... the wife has had seven wrist operations in 3 years (3 left / 4 right) following fractures 2 and 3 years ago. Her situation is worse following the last Op and she's decided 'no more'.

Sleep Aponea is one of the things they "thought" I had.

Scheduled for CT scan and "harvesting" at some time in the future. The "harvesting" is for future IVF as its pretty much impossible for me to conceive naturally.

Hi there EL and friends! I guess I'm in here too. I found out a few weeks ago that I have a tumor behind my right eye and will be having surgery in a few weeks for it. I've had the CT scans and the MRI now just waiting to see what kind of tumor it is. There are 3 kinds of orbital tumors, 2 are operable and the other can only be treated with radiation. LOL The doctor said that the good news is that there is nothing in my brain. Hubby says, "See? You paid a doctor to to tell you the same thing I've been saying for yrs!" Even the doc laughed because he knew he was kidding. (I wasn't so sure, LOL)
On top of it, I now have a cyst in my cheek for which I am on antibiotics. It needs to be cleared up before I can have the surgery. Go figure! I have been healthy all my life and now these two things in just a few weeks! Why are the Golden Years called the Golden Years? Seems more like lead to me!

:rose: I will say a prayer that it's operable.
