The Supreme Court on Thursday halted the Biden administration’s eviction moratorium, holding that it was “virtually certain” that the landlords who claimed the centers for Disease Control exceeded its legal authority would win.

The victory of the property owners was expected. The CDC’s argument that it could unilaterally impose a nationwide moritorium in any place with high levels of covid infections was almost completely ungrounded in law.

Even Biden knew this was going to happen. But we were able to prevent evictions for two weeks of people who are still waiting on Covid AID to pay their rent.

Hopefully there's not a huge group who were not able to work and did not receive that aid who will be evicted leftover.

Sad loss for the comrades.....SCOTUS, thankfully after all the sane additions to the court, upholds private property still being a thing.

(D)'eez weep into their hammer and sickle flags and che shirts.

Finally some good news. I know some mom and pop landlords who have been devastated by the eviction moratorium in CA. They have had to pay their mortgages, full utilities, and maintenance while receiving no rental income or reimbursement from the government.

Those who have had issues paying their rent have received aid from the government -> so they can pay their rent -> to landlords.

Sad news for the Communists here on Lit and elsewhere who think everyone should be fed sheltered and compensated free of the inconvenience of labor. I suspect we'll start to see an immediate return to the workplace of the nation's slackers.

Looks like Luk will have to go back to swabbing out the restrooms and dive bombing for litter and used needles in the city park.;)

Unfortunately, that money is not getting to renters or landlords. Per the Wall Street Journal today, only about 10% of the $47 billion appropriated by Congress has reached renters and housing providers. Small business housing providers have been hit hard by the CDC’s overreach. Biden knew his order was illegal and admitted it. He was deliberately gaming the legal system. The SCOTUS decision surprised no one. Better late than never.

It depends on the state (and since you quoted a source without providing it, I doubt the data is up to date or correct )

Biden extended the moratorium knowing it would be struck down, to give states more time to get money to renters Absolutely he's gaming the system here....and doing so for the American people.
