Supposingly Taken Prior To The Attack

This was forwarded to me by a friend. It was supposed to have been found in the debris of the WTC and taken just before the attacks.

I told her, my friend, that it had to be fake because (A) it's too clear for it to have been found on a victim and (2) it was never posted on CNN, FOX, or any other major news media.

What do you think?

I agree. I told my friend, who also had it forwarded to her, that if it was true the F.B.I would have taken pocession of this picture quickly.

This was posted a few days ago- I'm glad I'm not the only one who posts things that have been up already- by the way, I'm still waiting for my spanking for reposting a pic of the rebuilt Twin Towers... :D :p

Yay! Someone else goes there.

Though snopes.com is much better navigation and commentary.

The man's wearing a parka in September in New York, a beautifully warm time of the year.

The attack occured (I'm fairly sure about this) before the Observation Deck is open.

The attack occured in the early morning. This photo is facing north, and the shadows place the sun too far south.

The shadows are distinct and sharp everywhere except on the plane.

Ain't Photoshop cool?

Yeah it's a fake and a sick one at that.

More interesting is the fact that the WTC had a couple of webcams linked to it.......just wonder if anybody was watching them when it all happened.

Fake

A pretty good fake. The shadows and highlights of the plane actually match the shadows and highlights of the city and foreground pretty well.

More impressive is that the plane's colorspace (shadows and highlights) match the city's colorspace very well (no too black black's or too white whites).

But...

If you look at the attachment, I've looked at a few obvious mistakes.

1. This is the most obvious. The "date" on the "photo" has been messed with. An obvious amateurish mistake that can easily be seen at the tip of the red arrow after the area is brightened. There are numbers there that have been covered up poorly.

2. and 3. Two things about the plane: A) the purple hue that you see in the color of the reflected sky on the plane's metallic skin is not a possible color available from the available light. Notice how the sky color in the photo is basically a pale blue-green (cyan) hue. Some of this is evident on the plane fuselage, but the purple hue would only be there if the fuselage had a distinct red or pink-purple patina to it (they don't). B) the plane is about one or two plane lengths away from the building. At even a slow landing speed of 150 mph, the plane would be blurred almost beyond recognition; rather than the sharp focus you see here.

4. It looks like something was removed from the mouth of the backpack or something just behind the backpack was covered up. Notice the odd "blurry" shape that has a hard edge on its left side there. I'm not certain where this part of the image may have been cloned from (I didn't see an obvious pattern in the cloned area), but it's definitely not something that would occur in a normal jpeg encoding.

Whomever made the observation about the position of the sun...that also sounds like a good one. For 10 in the morning, the Sun looks a little high in the sky and too far south-east for summer.

As far as the jacket or warm wear. It's cold on Observation Deck that are that high.

To whomever did this: Get a life!

snopes.com.. said ALL of that.. in less words..

Judo..

jeez.. you spent alot of time on this.. maybe it's YOU that needs a life.. ;)

Well...

FG -

Actually snopes.com contained none of the observations that I included in my note. Though, they have many other great ones that point to the image being fake.

And as for time it took...about 20 minutes. I really dislike this kind of misuse of technology for one's own gain, so it's worth it to me to spend the time.

I agree with you, Judo. I think the person responsible should be prosecuted for faking the internet.

Oh i agree.. who ever did this.. was very sick.. do they have NO conscience? all the people suffering in the US.. and this sicko gets off on making shit like this? god.. makes me sick!

And.. um GuyJD.. it isn't the first nor the last person who will "fake" the net.. so why fill up our prison systems with people who do this kind of stuff?.. i think in time.. that person will get what is coming to him.. one way or another, it will happen.

Not really. Not in NY in September. Besides, in Manhattan when you go out you're dressing for the whole day. People spend (spent) about 20-30 minutes on the Observation Deck, then they're off to lunch and sight-seeing and theatre, etc. No one's going to carry around a parka if it's warm out. And it was warm out.

No, it's not. I can't believe people buy this crap.

The shadows and highlights of the plane actually match the shadows and highlights of the city and foreground pretty well.

Not even close, the plane was obviously photographed on an overcast day.

Wrong again, I haven't been to New York, but I do know that the sun is close to the ground. Either early morning or late afternoon. The hard sidelighting on the man would be your first clue.
