With all the SpiderMan hype, anyone interested in starting a Superhero based thread?

I am in but only if I can be a character I created. We need more black Superheros lol

I'm there. I love superhero RP

I'll use my first Champions char:)

Hero Name: Shadow Dancer
Real name: Cindy Walker
height: 5'8"
weight 120
Hair White, shoulder length

Shadow Dancer looks almost exactly like Tarna the Terakian from the original Heavy Metal movie. In fact, her original costume was based on Tarna's as well. Before she became Shadow Dancer Cindy Walker owned a chain of Electronic stores across the country. Since her change, in addition to fighting evil, she has cashed in on her fame and popularity, opening chains of high class Gentleman's (and womans) clubs, and Gyms designed to accomodate both supers, and regular people. Dancer often performs at one or another of her clubs.

Dancers powers come from a merger of Cindy Walker and a being of dark energy who became trapped in our world. She is a geshtalt organism. No means is known to separate the two. She has the ability to fly on a column of energy, and is very nimble in the air. She can project beams of energy from any point on her body. She can also teleport from one area of shadow to another. If confronted in close range, she can call more on the physical form of the being, gaining great strength and defenses. Note that she cannot shoot beams and use her strength at the same time.

Her current costume varies almost daily. To help out a friend who was starting a fetishwear business, she signed a contract for 10 years, to exclusively wear costumes he designs, for very little money. Since he knows she is very submissive, sexually, her costumes reflect that. It would not be unusual to find her flying into combat dessed in a leather body harness with her arms welded together in a singleglove behind her back. Since she mainly tries to stay in the air and at beam range, this is seldom a problem. However, despite the fact that whatever bondage gear she might be wearing is strong enough to hold a normal woman, if she applies her full strength to it, it will not hold her. This is sort of her escape clause in case of emergency. She hasn't had to do this.....yet

Shadow Dancer as I said, is very submissive sexually, and is also bisexual.

(yes, I have played in somce interesting table top games:))

I'm more than happy to be involved, but would first of all like to know what KIND of SH environment you're talking about. I mean, even though they're set in the same universe (DC) there is a world of difference between Superman (generic superpowered good guy), Batman (low powered detective antihero), Teen Titans (generic supers with teen angst) and Suicide Squad (Supervillains forced to work as heroes against their will). Start to throw in some of the more outlandish superheroes based around sex, femme dominance etc, and you can understand my question. It will impact the kind of character I would design.

OOC: Personally, I have no desire to constrain participants in any way...If you feel the character you play should not interact with another due to Universe/powers/genre/setting restraints, then I would urge participants to work that out themselves...

IC: I am the Black Widow. Unlike those silly comics they put out about me I am innately aware of my sexuality and the way I use it.

My blood red hair flows around me as I swing through New York City. My tight leather outfit grips me like a jealous lover as I drop to a rooftop witthout a sound. I hunt...

Feel sorry for my prey.

Brazen

How about this as a character? Acceptable:

Name: Brazen
Previous name: Suzanne Williams
Height: 8'
Build: Majestic, extremely beautifully carved with an amazonian (ie large, fairly muscular but still feminine) grace
Weight: Several tonnes
Material: Bronze
Clothing: None

Origin: A pagan sculptor was hunted and killed by an extremist religious group - "The Church of Light"* - for being pagan. However, she managed to work a final right which bound her soul to her latest statue - a large statue of the Goddess made of bronze. She now inhabits the statue at the will of the goddess.

Powers:
Superstrength - animated metal has one hell of a lot of power to put behind anything it does.
Superheavy - as much a problem as a power in a sense, in that it can cause problems accessing certain places with weak ground/floor, but the momentum of her weight means she is tough to stop and can bust through many things such as walls, vines, web, rope traps etc.
Immortal - she's an animated statue, you can melt her down, but the soul is still there and will be actively involved again once re-cast into a shape, thus she can be temporarily deactivated, not killed.
No homeostasis - as a statue animated by a spirit there are many things she simply does not have to do, including eat, drink, breathe, sleep, fight diseases or poisons, worry about temperatures at all (if its hot enough to melt bronze, it's hot enough to kill most other supers).
Reflection - ranged weapons generally, and beam weapons in particular, will mostly reflect off her (try it - shoot a sold statue and see what happens).
Heat absorption - again, potentially a problem as much as a benefit: when it is hot she is very very hot to touch, when it is cold she is extremely cold (just like leaving metal in heat/cold).
Clairvoyance - an aspect of being spiritual and having gone beyond the mundane, she can see at a distance.
6th sense - again, being aware on a spiritual level tends to give her a warning of impending danger before being aware of it.
Minor Shapeshifting - in order to be able to animate the statue, the goddess had to give her the ability to manipulate the metal. Not only can she move, but also change its shape. Thus, she could change an arm into a beam, a blade etc, but this requires intense concentration to do and so would be useless in combat. One thing it does allow for is self-healing over time if damaged.

Vulnerabilities:
Requires worship - she is an animated statue because of the will of the goddess. Fail to please the goddess through prayer and worship and she does die.
Mute - her tongue and mouth work... shame she never made vocal cords and lungs eh?
Poor senses - her touch is simply based on remembering touching things in real life and so is low-grade (her sexual memory is very good so she can enjoy that if anyone wants a sex toy ;) ). Her hearing and sight are ok, tied into her spirit so well. Her senses of taste and smell are completely absent.
Slow - she can move as fast as a normal person and so is slow by superhero standards. In a fight she can concentrate well in moving her body, so is a relatively competent fighter, but not extreme by any means. Generally her reactions are very slow though, as motion control requires concentration. Thus she is clumsy.
Enemy: Church of Light* - they have found out what happened and now think of her as a demon. I see this church as being about as powerful as the moonies, say. They're extremists and have access to supers as members.
Vulnerable: exorcism - she's a ghost, she can be exorcised.

Is that ok?

*If you want to make it some other religious group that's fine by me...

Love the characters so far, extremely creative. I think I'll go with a more common one though.
Spiderman.
Super strength, (able to lift a VW beetle, if my spider facts are up to date)
Super agility (can jump a hundred feet up ito the air, and land gracefully on a ledge top)
Able to stick/crawl on walls and ceilings.
Extremely intelligent (for a college student)
Extremely sarcastic.
And a spider sense, that helps him if there is any danger in the immediate area.
But, I'm sure you all know that already.

Do we have a plot yet, and if so, is there any need for supervillans as well?

Introducing...........AZ

Real Name: Aenas Cortez
Height/Weight: 5-11/187 lbs
Hair/Eyes: Short black hair when normal/ Light brown when normal/ glows gold when using powers
Nationality: African American
Distinguishing Features: A barcode tattoo on his neck and a barbwire tatoo around his bicep
Apperance: He is muscular guy not by superhero standards but more like by an athlete's standard. He is the kinda guy that blends into crowds easily. He is handsome but not male model/pretty boy handsome

Costume: Varies. Sometimes it can be dressed as a swat team guy, some times it is the guy in the crowd and other times it can be some thing really elaborate. Hell maybe he might meet Shadow Dancer's designer and get hooked up with some cool leatherwear.

History: As an NYU college student nobody really payed attention to Aenas until he got hit by a bus. Fortunately for him he did not die. Unfortunately the part of his spinal cord that affects his movements in his legs were shot. Volunterring for super secret experimental surgery that would allow doctors to slip a new metal called vibranium and graft it into the damaged area in the spine it would fill in for the damaged bones and as an added plus it would give the subject unbelieveable agility. The bad part this procedure had never ever been tried before. Usually the animal test subjects the spinal replacement would disrupt the flow of blood to the brain thus making the subjects head implode. However in Cortez's bloodflow it unlocked the side of the brain that was usually locked thus giving Cortez superhuman powers. However due to Cortez's inexperience with his powers he accidentally wiped the doctors brains clean, making somewhere above vegatable and slightly under village idiot status. The higher ups sponsoring this fiasco tried to kill Cortez but he escaped and to make matters worse other attempts to preform the same procedure were not successful at all. Right now AZ is on every police officer, detective and bounty hunter's hitlist to bring in alive to recieve 4 million dollars

Powers:
-Telephaty-He reads most people's minds but he is still working on this powers so he is kinda still learning
-Telekenesis- Can move crap with his mind. Still work in progress
-Above normal strength, agility, pain tolerance and healing ability, intelligence and speed
-There are some more but Cortez is still new to all this

Weaknesses
-He is very young and still prone to make mistakes
- his powers are still new to him
-He has a 4 million dollar price tag on his head. It makes meeting people and not being worried about being turned in pretty imposible
-A swift kick in the ball will hurt him lol

Hehe....Dancer could arrange that, Az

Her friend's name is Duke, btw....and since he spent many years in a wheelchair....he would be sympathetic to you.

(Duke came out of the first Champions module we played, so his history is pretty worked out too)

Cool. However if there is one thing my character definately need to get it has to be a mask after all he is a wanted man

Heh, lucky you - somehow I don't think an 8' statue cast of solid bronze would be hidden by a mask... ;)

Now, when does the action start and are we all on a superteam?

Well, usually when a group of supervillans comes together and tries to take over the world, it causes a group of superheroes (such as ourselves) to do the same.
So, it all depends on the plot and the villans.
I do suppose since Azian is the thread starter, it's up to her how this thing works. Although, if she doesn't want to, I am pretty sure we could come up with something reasonable.

Sure we could - it already sounds like Graf and Night Stoker are villains... that would provide a basis for the struggle right there.

Thread

OOC: As said previously, I have no desire to dictate this thread...I'd love to see it take a life of its own. I encourage all to interact however they see fit.

However, I don't really want to take part in a "supergroup" per se. I may interact, but not as a "member."

On a side note, I'd love to see more "established" characters join the thread. Not necessarily limited to the Marvel universe either ;)

Not everything here is Marvel universe - I know for sure Brazen isn't as I just came up with her at college the other day looking at one of the bizarre statues we got on site.

Trouble with it not being a group is there has to be some kind of coordination or the thread basically is likely to break down. Why are people there? What's happening? etc.

I'll be honest, I'm new to all this. I guess I just like the idea of reading multiple storylines and playing in the sandboxes I choose.

Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be a supergroup. We could just have superheros join up from time to time, defeating the evil. I'm sure the supervillans will have complicated enough stuff for two or three superheros to take on.
Then, we could do different things, hooking up from time to time, just to make sure everything is ok. Sort of like a group that isn't a group.
Well, I'm happy. If we could get the two evil doers, Ray and Graf, to make an evil plot. Together or seperately, up to them, then we can get this thing started.

I'm down with that intermittent grouping thing - not sure if ray and graf need help dealing with so many superheroes - tho I know ray is capable of some original thinking, unfortunately I dunno graf's player at all yet.

So another question coming to mind (and this should not in any way slow down starting) is do we need another bad guy or have one of us good guys change to evil? I can readily come up with a villain if needed.

Graaf

It is the 2002 martial arts championship match. This tournament started with over 800 of the worlds best fighters gathered at Madison Square Garden to compete to be the best in the world. Now, only 2 remain. Christian Killingsworth, a Ju-Jitsu master and Nicholas Adams, a former world champion skilled in Tae-Kwon-Do.

The two fighters stepped out into the ring greeted by the millions of spectators. The match begins with the sound of a bell. They both charge at each other with a barage of blows and kicks. It was a long and hard fought battle, but in the end there was only one winner; Christian Killingsworth.

The audience erupted in applause and praise. Flowers were raining down from the stands. The new world champion bowed gracefully before walking over to his fallen opponent and helping him up. They both show a tremendous amount of sportsmanship as they hug and shake hands. This was probably the biggest night in Christian's life...too bad it will be short lived.

[2 Hours later]

With his gold medal worn around his neck, Christian walks out into the parking lot towards his car with the memories of his victory still fresh in his head. He reaches into his pocket to find his keys when a strange feeling overcame him. He felt as if he was being watched. He turns around nervously to check, but couldn't make out anything in the dark shadows. He resumes his search for his keys. His thoughts get the better of him as he begins to feel uneasy. He frantically takes out his keys dropping them by accident. He leans down to pick them up and was startled to find a man standing in front of him as he got back up.

This mysterious stranger looked about 25 and was fairly tall. His hair was highlight in red and his eyes were expressionless. He was dressed in a traditional Chinese outfit (see attachment).

“C-c-can I help you?” says Christian barely managing to get the words out of his mouth.

The mysterious stranger focuses on the gold medal around his neck. Before Christian could utter another word, the stranger lands a devastating blow breaking Christian’s neck and killing him instantly.

“I am the world’s greatest fighter and I dare anyone to challenge me…” says the mysterious stranger before he leaves as secretively as he arrived leaving Christian’s corpse lying on the floor of the damp parking lot...

I knelt on the rooftop, and looked at the scene before. A murder scene, wonderful. The black and whites found it before I did too.

I sighed softly...more softly than I had intended to. It's hard to sigh loudly with a ball gag lodged between your teeth. I had noticed Duke's designs getting more and more kinky and restrictive lately, but his new nighttime patrol rig took the cake.

I was in aa form-fitting PVC black body sheath. My legs and arms felt like they were welded together, with integreated straps at the ankles, above and below the knees, and at my thighs, while my arms were in the integrated single glove, which meant they felt like they were welded to each other, and to my back. There was no mouth opening in the hood. Some breathing holes under the nose, and the tinest of openings for my eyes. I had to admit it made me almost invisible at night. I also didn't think a normal woman would last more than 15 minutes in one.

There. Donovan showed up. Detective Donovan knew my status, and had seen this rig before. She would keep the beat cops off my back as I investigated the scene.

I swoopped down, to hover before Donovan. She looked surprised at first, then a barest hint of a tired smile flicked across her eyes. She shouted to the surprised officers. "Ok, everyone, back off. This is Shadow Dancer. Those of you who have worked with her in the past, know she has a federal Marshall badge. You also know she is good. Noone interfer with her."

I nuzzled her cheek in thanks, as I flew quickly around the crime scene. Nothing I could find from the scene itself. Anything evidence-wise either wasn't there, or the black and whites had trampled it. Looking over the body, I let my mind wander slightly. "professional job, the man was killed with a single blow. Now, while I know lots of people who could kill someone with a single blow, the victim had just been crowned the best martial artist in the world. This raises those stakes considerably. Hello? What's this?" I thought to myself. Audibly, I began grunting very loud through my gag. After a few seconds, I felt DOnovan's hand on my bottom.

"What do you have, dear?" I heard her ask quietly

I leaned forward a bit, placing my nose very close to the victim's hand. She pulled out a magnifier and looked closer. "Hey! Can I get some evidence bags here!" It seemed Mr Killingsworth had at least grabbed his assailant as he died. There were several blue fibers under his nails.

I looked meaningfully at Donovan as she collected the evidence.

Death Staker

I watch from the roof as a man kills the champion and then challenges any one to beat hem. I snort thinking if I wasn’t hear to kill some one I would go down and slay that one my self. I shrug as I look at a map of the city finding the address of where this man was being kept in protective custody. I smile thinking what luck I had that the cop where stupid enough to let this guy com to the tournament. I wasn’t expecting hem to be hear but there he was. My mined easily slipped in to his and his guards minds finding the address of where they where keeping hem.

Once I orient my self to where he is compared to me I run and jump of the roof spreading my arms like they where wings. I fall tords the ground at what a mortal would think as an alarming speed. As I com close to the ground I shift in to my raven form flapping my wing and gliding back up in to the sky. I fly over the roof tops until I find the place a sky scraper. I cercal my way up until I fined which flour he’s on. He’s nearest the top flour so I fly up to just under the roof top I fly at the building turning back in to my human form. My finger nails finding perches on the seems of the glass walls.

I crawl up to the roofs edge where I lesion to the guards as they make there rounds as they pass over head I crawl up on to the roof and crouch down in a shadowed area. I fined the guards minds with mine and I put them in to a light trance they will star at nothing until a noise or a touch wakes them.

I move quietly to the door and tern to mist flowing threw the cracks reforming on the other side. I walk down the stars making less sound then a prowling cat. I stop at the flour where his apartment is. I stop at the door lessoning hearing the hart beat of four men out side he’s door and the murmur of more in side. I put the four out side in to the trance. I then move in to the hall. I stop out side he’s door ignoring the four on ether side. I concentrate on the five in side four police and the man that is to die. I smile as the room goes quite. I tern to mist agene flowing in to the room.

Once in side I reform looking around I see the man that is to die sitting on a couch. I walk over to hem slowly drawing my sword and with a fluid movement I sever his head form he body stepping back quickly avoiding the fountain of blood the spots form the stump of his neck. I sheath my sword turning back to mist and moving out the door and down the hall.

Once out side and run and jump off the edge of the roof falling down turning to mist just a few feet form hitting. The mist billows out in a circle as it hits the ground. I flow down the street reforming in the shadows of an ally. I look at the Belding as the alarm finely goes up. I chuckle to my self thinking all too easy. The drug lord will be pleased and I shall get the rest of my ten million. I walk in to the ally disappearing in to the shadows as if I had never been.
