Okay, looking at my supercomputer, I can see that most of us are superheroes or supervillains in disguise. So since we are behind alter-egos anyway, let's reveal our superhero nature.

I am secretely Evil Man. I am a superhero in Megasuperultragodisthisplaceleaveittobeaverorwhattropolis. I go around finding evildoers and cackling maniacally at them until they become so flustered that they either run straight into walls or give up. When I'm not doing that I am putting up propaganda about how ruthless Evil Man is in punishing criminals and becuase im evil, distributing maoist propaganda.

I've done a lot of superhero stuff.

A few years ago I was obsessed with drawing, and I created a character named Mr. X. Mr. X was a small time hoodlum and blackmailer in the decaying Midwestern town of Gleetz who was visited by an energy being from another planet who offered to give him unlimited powers so that all these other aliens could watch what he did with them. Sort of like intergalactic reality TV. Mr X. had carte blanche as a superhero: whatever he wanted to happen would happen.

It was also a play on the creative process, because Mr. X was me and so was also drawing the strip, and whatever I could draw, he could do. (A little trope on the power of the artist, see?)

The love of his life was Elaine Money, a brilliant and gorgeous Ph.D (in business administration) who no one took seriously because people just saw her as a pretty face, and so she ended up working shit jobs, constantly frustrated. X was in love with her but she wouldn't take him seriously because the very idea of having superpowers was just so juvenile. He wouldn't use his powers on her because he wanted her to love him back out of her own free will, because it isn't love if it isn't freely given. Elaine also had just terrible taste in men. She was one of those beautiful women who's always going out with low-lifes who treat her like dirt. X was always bailing her out and then having to listen to her as she poured her heart out.

Mr X had two pals: Giant Robot and Satan, Jr., who was the Devil's son but who'd been disowned because he was gay. Satan Jr had invented cell phones. They used to fly up to the communications satellites and Satan Jr would stick his ass in the dish and fart, just for laughs.

Mr. X used to fly backwards in a sitting position, so the wind wouldn't sting his face. He wore jeans and a tee-shirt and dark glasses, and had a bath towel tied around his neck. Since he could give himself whatever kind of unifrom he wanted whenever he wanted, he just didn't bother with how he dressed. He spent most of his time pursuing women, and had bondage sex with Wonder Woman (who hasn't?). I developed a whole cast of characters and the town of Gleetz took on a real personality for me.

Anyhow, it was great fun, until one day I finally had to admit that I was no great shakes as an artist and never would be, and all the fun went out of it. Contemporary comic artists are just incredibly good, without doubt the best representational artists working today, and I couldn't even begin to compare.

Sometimes I think of turning Mr. X into a serial for Lit, but I think he's too high-concept. Or maybe it's low-concept.

One word: Webcomics

I'm currently working with an artist friend of mine on a webcomic. My AV is one of the characters: a psychotic with a soft spot for nature. The new medium really allows you to self publish a comic that's not quite up to contemporary comic artist quality. The tales of Mr. X would fit perfectly in with the other weird comics out there.

That's the first thing that's made sense to me about any comic book superhero.

I used to pretend I was Wonder Woman, but her tits were always so much bigger than mine!

;)

Wonder Woman has always been an object of fetish worship. I remember once coming across an adult fanfic site and there were more stories about WW than about anyone else. And when I used to search for erotic cartoons, I was always coming across Wonder Woman in bondage strips. And when she wasn't taking it she was dishing it out.

LOL
we would play wonderwoman and aqua man.. loved those webbed feet/hands.. makes me wonder.. for some reason i was always aqua man. oh god.. i think i might need therapy.

I once joined an X-Men online roleplay. I invented an X-woman of my own, who in all respects could be a stand-alone character. I think I've still got her character bio saved on my hard-disk somewhere..nope, can't find it. I am currently doing a fantasy role-play thing which is getting really weird and random. At any rate, I used a very similar character to my X-women: Myra Loren, an 'Ichorenari'--somebody with God-blood in them. Problem is, her father was one of the Poisonwing Triumvirate and all their children born of mortals are suffused with poison: poisonous blood, poisonous breath etc. etc. She's a rather twisted character, and she randomly has prophecies that she can't remember, but most of the time she just tries not to bleed on anybody.

I have a minor obsession with poisonous blood. I was somewhere in my early teens when I thought 'wouldn't it be cool to have a race of people with poisonous blood?' so I put it in my novel. At first they were going to be a by-mention thing, but now the whole race has its own culture, history, society structure etc. and has generally blown up in terms of scale. Funnily enough, the original inspiration came from watching a cartoon on Sky called 'Roswell Conspiracies' (if anybody has ever seen this--there seem to be pitifully few--please give a shout!) and there's a creature in there called Sh'lainn Blaze, a banshee. I thought she was really, really cool so I decided to add similar characters in my story, but they ended up being considerably different.

If I got super powers, I'd probably use them for evil. At the very least, I'd use them for my own personal advancement and gain. Which, basically, boils down to 'bout the same thing ;)

I love superhero fiction. Not comics, so much ... I'm weirdly picky when it comes to art. But I love the fiction. Would like to write more. But I was the Featured Guest author in the May issue of iHero.net and will have a story in the upcoming anthology PATH OF THE BOLD.

Wild Cards books, anyone? Fantastic!

I'd love to run a supers RPG someday, but all my players strictly prefer fantasy.

HeroMachine is a great tool to help create the costume for your superhero.

I enjoy reading comics (mostly DC) as well as role-playing in pen-and-paper superhero games (Villains & Vigilantes). I have created some superheroes and superheroines in the past. I cannot draw with a damn so HeroMachine comes in handy.

My favorite self-created superhero would be Captain Phantom, a twisted version of the Lone Ranger and the Green Hornet. There are actually a series of them throughout time. The first Captain Phantom started in the 1880s as a masked vigilante. He rode throughout the western frontier righting wrongs.

The second Captain Phantom started his career in the thirties against gangsters. He lasted until the fifties when he mysteriously disappeared. The next Captain Phantom started in the sixties and lasted until the eighties.

One of these days, I might actually write an adventure or two of Captain Phantom.

My favorite superheroine would be Black Cherry. Her adventures were with Black Bear and very sexual.

Kinda like an HIV-victim?

Dr. M,

Mr. X sounds like a really awesome comic. Have you ever thought of submitting a script of it to a comic company? I know Dark Horse Comics used to take submissions and they could hook you up with an artist for it, if they are interested. I was originally thinking about becoming a comic book artist, and I was pretty good, but I lost interest when my music started to take off. I'm no longer good enough to compete with the high level of talent that is out there now. Some of this stuff is INSANELY good.

Sabledrake,

I LOVE the Wild Cards books! It's been years since I read them, but they are always fresh in my mind when I think about superheroes. They had a Wild Cards roleplaying game out through GURPS a few years back, but I don't know if it is still available. The plot would be easily substituted into any existing superhero game, I would think. Especially something open-ended like Champions. I think I would play a Joker/Ace.

If I had superpowers I would keep them a secret so people would leave me alone. It would get old really quick, having kids come up and say, "Hey, lift that bus! Do it again! Do it again! And again!" Or they would all be begging for me to fly them around all the time. If I could pick my powers I would choose two. To be immortal and the power to heal people. I'd have to be immortal so the AMA couldn't have me assassinated. :)

I thought immortal only ment that yoou'd never die from old age, but you could still get killed from, say decapitation?

If I get to pick my powers I think it's only fair that I get to define it's parameters. LOL. My immortality would be a mix of never aging and being nigh invulnerable. Like the greatest superhero ever created. The Tick!

Nice sketch rhinoguy! Supergirl was asking for it. :)

It's great to see a fat super hero girl, as a contrast to all them anorectic bitches jumping around in their double D-cups!:rose:

Luc, check out Get Your War On. The art is all clip art (or a total of maybe six frames of what looks like clip art) and it works brilliantly.

The Tick Rocks!

I have to agree. I shared an office with an, uh, "avid" collector of superhero dolls (sorry - action figures) and the Tick was one I came to respect enormously. He also had a collection of speaking Simpsons figures, of which the most-often-used was Krusty the Klown. You'd put Krusty into the set for Apu's Kwicky-Mart, and Krusty would say,

"Man. Just look at all this crap with my face on it."

I used to take him into meetings and activate him after we lost the account.

SweetSub,

I like many/most american males wished to worship at Wonder Womans feet because of her tits. At least I did right up until I met a wonderful woman with breasts much smaller than those on your AV. The sensiticity of her breasts, (not just her nipples but her entire breasts,) plus the fact she was happy with what she had made me realize just how foolish I had been. Now, even though I am married to a wonderful woman who happens to have C-cup breasts, I can never pass a woman with small breasts who looks happy without taking a second look. (My favorite fantasy is a threesomewith my wife and a woman who has A-cups.)
