super glue and other musings

I was decorating a kindle cover for a gift and got super glue on my fingers. Acetone doesn't remove it. Who knew? Super glue also doesn't adhere metal to synthetic leather. A hot glue gun doesn't adhere metal to synthetic leather, either. Have no idea what to try next. I see a trip to the hardware store in my near future.

Other musings.

There is a hilarious documentary about porn stars on Netflix you should all watch. It follows ex porn stars in their next careers. Life after porn is not always kind.

Homemade ice cream is easier to make than you think.

It snowed two feet in the mountains yesterday.

What's up tonight?

super glue will seal a cut if you don't have a bandage.

My favorite ice cream depends on my mood.

I like a brand of glue called Dunco Cement. Superglue is shit, but Dunco actually does seem to work on most surfaces.

My fate was decided at work today and my dog chewed open several presents, apparently she's ready for Christmas now.

I'm hoping to solve a few issues tonight.

Did you try sulphuric acid? That stuff works a treat on things like this and it will get rid of your fingers too.

My favorite ice cream right now is homemade cardamom. Ridiculously easy to make. I learned that superglue instead of stitches trick in the ER with the child when he was about 5 and decided he was going to jump and climb over an 8 foot fence. He always has been a badass. They sealed his forehead slice with superglue. And charged me $500. Neat.

Cool. Thanks. I will add it to the list along with all the drywall repair shit I still need to buy.

I saw you tweeting something about that. If anyone can dig herself out of a fuck ton of shit, it would be you, my friend. Give 'em fucking hell, take no prisoners, and go get laid. There. I think I covered everything.

Fuck you very much, that's just lovely advice. You surely know how to dispense with the practical ... oh, never mind.

You want to attach leather to metal? Screw it.
You know, I thought of that, but it would ruin the back, the kindle cover is thin. I hate how I get myself into these crafty dilemmas and it takes forever to problem solve.

Actually, sorry, it's Duco Cement, not Dunco.

Also, the only iced cream I've ever made was rhubarb a few years ago.

Rivet.

That is brilliant. I lack the proper tools or acumen to pull that off, but handing over a hand-riveted decorated kindle cover for a christmas gift would be so badass. On my bucket list: learn to rivet, solder and weld.

GorillaGlue or LiquidNails. Scuff the metal first with some abrasive.

Sweet. I have liquidnails in the garage. I used it to adhere about 300 gazillion broken tiles to a bowling ball. I made a garden mosaic out of it.

My US browser hates your UK link. Gonna research hand riveters, though. I bet I can do some awesome crafty crap with that.
The one I linked is a quid incl. 60 rivets. I'm guessing the US has them equally as cheap. And they're piss easy to use.

I am picturing it as something like a bedazzler for dudes. Neat.

I happen to like this stuff the best.

The squeezable bottle makes placement easy.

Get the gel super glue.

That shit will stick to snotty brass doorknobs.

Ugh. That is what I was using. For whatever reason, it just would not work. Dammit. It's all over my fingers now. And I won't be using sulphuric acid to remove it. I am currently dipping my finger in some aqua vit just to see what will happen. Will report back when done.

Try two part epoxy next.

I like the JB Weld.

I have some of that. Will try it if the liquidnails doesn't work. Gonna try a tiny dab of that as a test.

Look at Pete being all helpful and shit!

A mechanical fastener might be best if it will fit the application.

Best of luck.

Nice to see you!
