The smartphones alarm’s screech as it filled the room. 32-year-old David Ramirez’s eyes opened as began to reluctantly rise from his bed and to the other side of the room where counter of the phone rested. He kept it away from the bed as to get out of bed to turn it off and not be tempted to go back to sleep after. He pushed himself to the bathroom, brushing his teeth before heading into the shower.

David had officially moved to Sunset Bay just yesterday. He had spent the whole day unpacking, not even bothering to introduce himself to any of the neighbors as he wanted to get settled in as soon as possible and making sure nothing of his was misplaced.

After getting out of the shower and getting dressed, David headed to the kitchen to make himself a cup of coffee. His eyes moving over to the window. David’s house one of many other houses in the town located uphill giving him a lovely view of the beach. The soft crashing waves of the ocean combined with the gentle caws of the seagull in the distance helped put a smiled on his face, something he had struggled to do for some time.

After going through what he considered a heartbreaking split from his former fiancé, David couldn’t bare to stay in the city any longer. He put in his 2 weeks at the local paper he worked at a spent the next few day sending out applications to various other outlets. It all seemed in vain until one day he received an email from the editor of The Daily Sunset offering him a job on the coast as a writer. To take the job that was thousands of miles away was risky and, in many ways, stupid. But the next David knew he was on his way.

Sunset Bay was one of the most pristine towns in the country. It was know not only for it’s crystal clear beach and white sands but also being such a vibrant town with such an interesting array of locals. David hoped he could truly call this place his home.

With the last sip of coffee, David made his way out the door. He decided now would be the perfect time to explore to town as he began to put on his earbuds. Maybe in this town, things would be different for him.

Ladies and gentlemen is 9 am on the dot and you are listening to 99.8 Sunset. I’m your host, Ronnie J and people, looks like our beautiful town will be starting off the Summer with a lovely 81 degrees. That perfect weather for all of you to take in some rays, catch some ray, and show off those beach bodies you’ve all been working so hard on. And for any of you new to our little slice of paradise, here’s a little welcoming gift from me to you.
