What's it take to get these people to vote a little?

I want 5's so bad I can taste it.

Everything else I ever wrote usually had about 20 readers, and I was once thrown out of a writing group, because of WHAT I wrote.

I guess I don't have a good sense of the numbers. I really wish I was better at the writing thing, though. I'm regrettably competative and I am finding that its not compatible with recreational writing.

With almost 60,000 reads on two of my stories, votes mean little.

They obviously don't please everyone.

Stories that touch me, that I like, I vote on and comment.

I'm not a writer, so I love the few votes I have. It's no biggie.

I never vote. I don't invite voting on my stories. I don't think 1 for "I hate you", 4 for OK and 5 for anything else means much.

I do send feedback, good and bad, but I always try to make the bad comments constructive.

Is anyone keeping count of how many times we've had threads identical to this one?

You're not doing too bad Joe. Actually your story is doing much better than my poetry. I have one poem, been up over a year, has 6 views.

It's not Great, mind-blowing poetry but I' didn't think it was that bad.

I have two poems that have been up for 2 years. Each has 1 vote - a 3 and a 4.

One of my stories 'The Cage Crinoline' has been posted 2 years. It has 11,628 views and 4 votes. I didn't think it was that bad.

Actually, 1% is high, at least for me. Most of my stuff is more in the 0.1% range for votes/view, about 1 or 2 votes per 1000 views.

I have some 2.5 million views and a vote ratio of about 0.3%.

Lots of looky-loos, few voters.

I do get some feedback, some good, some bad. The feedback that ends "Stop me before I kill more!" does disturb me a bit.
