Sundays: Poetry Community Review Day

I recently have posted that I would not be able to continue the Sunday Reviews. There was some confusion in who will be covering this day resulting in the lack of acknowledging the poems for last Sunday.

Due to this lack of coverage and my own experience in covering Sunday I came up with a new idea that I think will be great for the forum. Sunday is usually a big day for poems. Regularly, I found myself in front of 40 to 60 poems to be read and reviewed. Other times the list topped 65 + poems. I usually spent anywhere between 2 to 4 hours on the reviews. When time was short Art and I teamed on the reviews and it seemed to work well. So my gray matter swirled as I came up with this idea:

Why do we not make Sunday a community effort? We all can post a poem or list of poems that we feel should be mentioned? I know that this is possible for all writers to do daily but, I feel if we make it a forum event on Sunday we will bring together a sense of community making it the responsibility of all to post a poem or two.

I thought I would suggest this to forum and see what others think?

great Idea! (~_*)

Nice idea, and I'd like to see that happen. It's still a good idea to have someone covering that day, even if he/she only mentions a few--just incase. :)

Eve
if that is the case and we can make this happen I will be more than happy to continue being responsible for Sundays. I know that Art will help me and my past absence proved that others are willing to step up to the plate in helping out. So can we try it this Sunday?

PS I want to tell you I have really enjoyed your photos of your little ones. They are great~

I think it'll be fun to have a poetry community review day! It's worth a try. :)

Okay as Picard says "Make it so"..... one can only try and know the outcome correct? I think it will be fun also and good for the forum!

I'm sure there are some posters who may not realize that anyone can suggest a poem on the review thread, or they may feel shy about it. But if Sunday, for instance, is set aside as a community review day, it may be a great way to encourage more participation. I really like this idea, du!

Exactly why I thought of it Eve. I also think it will promote more reading of poems again which seems to be lacking of late. I know I am guilty of it and so many new people do not realize that they have a voice here at Lit also. So I feel it is a wonderful way to see what others like in poetry and to get to know each other on a new level.

Du, I changed the subject line (hope you don't mind) so that others won't think this is a "who wants sunday" kind of thread. ;)

Maybe I'll join in make it a little more, what's the word, open

It is a cool idea Du. As Eve said, the reviews have always been open to anyone's recommendations. We started this whole business of one person as each day's reviewer to ensure there was always coverage of new poems, and we've always said that anyone else is welcome to join in--this is a great way to enourage it.

Blessings on you, lady.

Du did come up with a winner, and it's already begun on the review thread! :)

Many Thanx to all...

Thank you all who jumped in on the Sunday Community Reviews. It allows me to still review (which most of the time I will do either late late Sunday or early Monday AM) and also to see what others see as interesting, good or plain old mind boggling about a poets writing here at Lit.

I again thank you all for the support and wonderful enthusiam for this Sundays efforts.

i jumped in and offered up another poet's writing as a sacrifice to the reviews thread. i didn't realise what was going on and was quite surprised no one had recommended the poem i saw. lol

it was nice to be able to hunt out an interesting morsel before everyone else had scoffed the main course. ;)
