Summer

Name some summer songs.

My favorites:

"Hot town, summer in the city, back of my neck gettin' dirt n gritty"

And of course Dylan's "Here comes the story of the hurricane" ;)

oh my how I enjoy you

The swimming pool... the heat of the sun on your shoulders, the contrast between the cool water and the heat, the taste/smell of chlorine that clings to your body/hair after a long session in the water, the rush of air as you knife through the air from the 3-meter board, the swift slice into the water, hardly a ripple left behind...

uhmmm was that supposed to be scary? *lifts skirt*

Not scary to you... maybe I should open the closet door and shove you in there, instead.

I wanna be locked in with KC.

My summer likes:

Long lazy days of endless sunlight hours.

Fishing.

The smell of horse and leather clinging to me.

Horse shows; bathing, clipping, braiding, blanketing, my god it's hot, where's the hose, spending too much on horse goodies, yay the girl who beat the crap out of me last year is selling her horse out of state, piles of blue/purple/red/green/etc ribbons... shows.

Laying in the prairie grass of the pasture, surrounded by exhausted dogs after they've been playing fetch.

Sitting on our back deck.

Turtles.

My Joseph's Coat climbing roses.

Watching the koi.

Swimming.

Fresh lemonade.

throwing a minor perve at Sunfox and adding a few more

Roasted corn on the cob..

Little baby carrots.

Cool cotton sheets on hot humid nights.

Cold showers ( a depressing lot of those lately..)

*perves right back at the Snowy One, with a sneaky nibble thrown in*

Oh yeah.. corn on the cob *sighs* I love that. I'll eat it till I'm just about sick. :D

I miss corn on the cob. The kids like it so much that I still buy it for them, but I'm not allowed to have any corn products at all. It's even more of a no-no than chocolate.

Coming into a nice cold house from the unbearable humidity of Florida in July

Thunderstorms--even though they happen daily and are a pain in the ass (the power goes out more often than not due to lightning strikes) I still appreciate the sheer power of them.

Vine Ripened Tomatoes. Enuf said.

Summer Blockbuster movies.

Making it through hurricane season (Jun-Nov) without having to evacuate

Summertime is horrible.

I work for the schools, so it means less money.
Hurricanes suck.
Hot weather sucks.
My room stays 15 degrees hotter than every other room of the house.
I never have time alone at home (mom is off from her school job as well)

there is no room for negativity in the summer thread :p

the smell of the flowers when i'm driving home from work.
going to the park and feeding the ducks. (although, i like that in the fall too because the fall is the best season.)

however, i hate the weather.
it was 98 degrees with 16% humdity.

Tonight I experienced a new lovely summer thing. Green corn tamales. I also learned not to get between bronn AND the tamales! showing teeth marks on my arm

The way that every day can feel like a weekend ... kids out of school, no schedules to tie us down.
Feeling no need what so ever to wear any make-up ... a golden bronze tan eliminates the need.
Wearing open toed shoes with perfectly pedicured piggies, with backless shirts that are held together by nothing more than a 'shoestring'.
Lazing by the pool in the hot sun ... eyes closed, hearing kids splash and giggle all the while.

I think I already said it, but I'm really enjoying the summer wardrobes of the people around me. And green corn tamales. (Sorry about the arm, Lil Bit. Never reach in front me when there's tamales on the table!) Dances on the patio at the Pig. Kidnapping the nieces and nephews for multiple scoop ice cream cones.

I think KC forgot to mention one of her favorite things about summer:

Being a seahorse.
