what are your fav things about summertime?

Eeyore's fur smelling like grass and dew when she comes in, in the morning.

Barefeet.

Raspberry sherbert on the back porch at night.

Corn on the cob.

Crispy pan fried trout that was still swimmin' less than an hour before.

Guacamole that was still in avacado state less than an hour before.

The hammock under the willow tree.

Sleeping on the roof at night.

Cut off jeans with ravelly threads.

Little kids who smell like sunshine and Kool Aid at bedtime.

Toasted marshmallows...

And that's just the beginnings....

Fireflys
the smell of Honeysuckle on the wind
fresh cut grass

berry season
chlorine or the smell of the lake on dried skin/hair
white water fun

boadwalk fun and foods
zeppolis
seeing the first ice cream truck round the corner

hanging out all night under the street lights
hand ball
frozen drinks

sunset at 7...8 pm

falling asleep to the sound of the fan
... the crickets
... the frogs.

when you come in and the AC is already on

girls with less clothing on

fruit -- all the fruit worth eating

late night, still light

it's not winter

Summer in Hawaii just means a little less rain.

We don't *really* have seasons. :p

In Florida we call that season "Road Repair."

What I miss of summer (not living far enough north):

Fireflys
Northern Lights
Sleeping with all the windows open
Sunlight later in the day after a winter of days that are far too short
Driving in the mountains

*steals idea and tiptoes away*

The smell of BBQ
BBQ foods
Fishing (aka drinking and pretending to fish)

No bulky clothing
Not missing winter
The same familar faces sitting in their front yards

New bunches of kids coming of age and playing all night outside
Summer flames...

I like that I don't have to get up early every morning and get my daughter ready for school. And I like that my roses bloom all summer.

LOL, sounds like Queensland where I am from originally.....I just love the chance to now enjoy 4 distinct seasons with all that goes with it and try not to bring that down with to much homesickness, but it happens despite my dislike with a passion for all that heat and humidity combined with the endless things that bite.

Warped tour

More bands tour during the summer

Camping

more frequent sidewalk dance parties

Giganterous sunglasses

shorts and skirts that could easily pass for belts

scantily clad people of any gender, bonfires on the beach, the carnival on the pier, the Galway Hookers.. (boats people, they're boats! Get your minds outta da gutta allready!)

I like heat and humidity... probably because I am so used to it. I *hate* being cold!

Catalina, what's wrong with things that bite?

ooh thunderstorms, too.

walking with him down the street in a tank top, past a group of men while his hand slips wickedly and obviously underneath it.

wishing i were little kids in the park shrieking while running down steep hills with their limbs all out of control.

pixie music from the icecream truck (sometimes)

scandalous attire

double dutch

iced tea in tall glasses filled with ice and fresh mint leaves.

Oooh, I miss thunderstorms. The thunderstorms in the northwest are a joke. I also miss fireflys.

Summer is a lovely time of year...

It's car trips to the mountains and scuba diving and snorkeling and staying up late with the WunderMunchkin watching Disney movies and minor league baseball and going to the waterpark and doing the waterslides and cook-outs and sleep-overs and the smell of new books and taking the long way home and wandering the back roads looking for weird little motels to pull in for the night.

No snow to shovel
no boots to put on
no scarves
no winter coats
no car scraping
no listening to the city truck at 3:00 a.m. removing snow

just

the smell of freshly cut grass
clothes hung outside dried by the sun
wearing sandals with a great pedicure
the jazz festival
Just for laughs festival
Film festival
any festival in montreal

Being warm

Sitting in the park reading & dozing, listening to the sounds of children playing in the background.

Not having to wrap up and scrap the snow of the car before you can get anywhere.

Car windows down, driving fast with the music turned up high.

Raspberries blooming, picking and reaping large bucketfuls for the night's merry consumption
Sun descending at 11 pm, casting a faint glimmer over the horizon until dawn at 4 in the morning.
Warm nights, walking home from the bar with a light jacket on
Thunderstorms rolling in the evening, with the excited anticipation for lightning, thunder and possibly some good gusts of wind and hail. (I don't have a car so I need not worry about such things.)

summer

ok. even an old grouch like me has some favs.
cicadas singing, crickets chirping, humming birds buzzing, butterflys soft n pretty floating by, eating outside on the back porch, listening to mom nature, relaxing, sitting back, new mowed lawn looks so nice in the evening, trees slowly swaying in an evening breeze, the sun settling down on the city,...

some of my favs.

ok. ya caught me. i'm a sentimental grouch. i admit it.

the wolf, mellow on a sunday.

Name some summer songs.

My favorites:

"Hot town, summer in the city, back of my neck gettin' dirt n gritty"

And of course Dylan's "Here comes the story of the hurricane" ;)
