How about some summer suggestions that might make good plot bunnies or bits of imagery to add to a Summer Lovin' story? Help out fellow writers who may be struggling with an idea or dressing up the idea they have.

( I'll admit that I'm looking for some inspiration for summer-themed quips for my latest spoof *laugh* )

Here's a few random tidbits I've been saving to an ideas file.

Sunscreen
Family Reunions
S'mores
Roasting Hot Dogs
Roasting Marshmallows
Baseball
Swimming
Summer Camp
Summer School
Backyard BBQ
Watermelon
Drive with the top down.
Fresh vegetables in season
Farmer's Markets
Ice Cream
Ice Cream Man/Truck
Water Wings
Ticks
Mosquitos
Lawn Darts
Playing Horseshoes
Fireworks
4th of July
Labor Day
Corn on the cob
Bikini car wash
Running through the hose ( for those too poor for a pool )
Opening a fire hydrant ( ditto for those in the city )
Slip-N-Slide

Add a few of your own?

A Long Hot Highway.

He had to have car trouble on the stretch from Baker, California to Las Vagas. He looked at the map, it was twenty miles to the State line and only seven miles back to the rest stop he had passed, outside of Baker. What ever had stopped working on the BMW had also stopped the top from working so rather than sit in the sun, cursing his cellphone battery, he decided to thumb a ride back to the rest stop and use the land line.

He put all the stuff from the inside of the car in the trunk and hopped over the divider to see if he could get a ride. He walked in the heat of the morning sun and when he heard a car behind him he turned a stuck out his thumb. The sun was in his eyes but he could see it wasn't a car but a red Ford flatbed, that had see the showroom, in the Nixon Administration, before he had been born.

As the truck slowed and came up to him, he saw the seat was full, three women and a toy schnauzer stared at him for a second, "Car Trouble?" the redhead on the passengers side asked him.

He had to let the smallest one Linda set on his lap so they would all fit in the seat, As luck would have it, Linda owned the schnauzer, "Garth, I call him. You know, for Garth Brooks." Linda said as she tried to keep Garth from licking his face.

Write you own ending.:D

A few words to add, without duplicating, I hope:

Great stuff! I know that there's a couple that I think I can take advantage of. Hope it helps out some other people as well.

Have to put the midwestern variety of horseshoes/cornhole in there -- Washers.

Same rules as horseshoes, except you're tossing large washers toward holes lined with tin cans to keep them from caving in.
