Since the comments on stories are now moderated, I thought I'd put forward an idea of placing that task on authors themselves. They already have the option of deleting comments, so why not let them do all the moderation on their own stories?
As things are now, there is some worry of comments being lost. Naturally it is also possible that the missing comments are result of the comment writer not noticing that the comment isn't immediately sent, but first previewed.
I understand if there's a technical reason why this cannot be done. But if this is doable, the current comment moderators could be spared from the task, and they could focus on something else. I'm sure there is plenty of work to do.
