Suggestion for story pages/hubs and reading lists

To get the maximum benefit from the new reading lists feature, you should probably put a button to add a story to the lists on the hub somewhere in the new stories list, and on the main new stories list.

That way, when people are browsing through, they can mark interesting listings without having to open the story itself. I think it will greatly increase the utilization of this feature.

Likewise, the reading list button should be at the top of each story page, rather than at the end of the story where the favorites button is. Optimally, tracking which page the button was clicked on would save the read later listing with that page number, so when a reader clicked on it from their list, it would return to that page.

That would create a bookmarking feature as well, potentially increasing the readership of longer stories, and enabling people to jump directly to the "good part" of a story if that's what they're looking for.

Regardless, having it at the top of the page rather than the end of the story should increase utilization of the feature.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Based on lots of author/reader feedback, the following features will definitely be in the next version of Lit's design:

1. The new Story Listing Blocks, as seen in the Tags Portal, will be universal across all listing pages on Lit.

2. The new Lit Story Page will have a bookmark icon at the top of every page near the Story Title. I will attach a screenshot to show you.

We also believe that a page specific bookmarking feature should be part of Lit's future, but it is not built into the first version of the new design.

Thanks again! :D

Excellent :)

From the looks of things, that should have the feature quickly gain utilization as soon as it's implemented.

Having the reading list feature should increase the value of favorite listings by eliminating people using favorites as a bookmark, and simply having a prominent reading list feature should increase longevity of stories.

Looking forward to it!
