suggestion for Laurel

apologies if I'm stupid enough to have missed it if there is one already, but I wonder if it would be a good idea to have a special section for editor's choice stories - the ones with the green 'e' sign.

wouldn't it be a little easier if all the choice picks from each section were couped up together?

The next step away from that would put a ton of new work on your shoulders--the E Story E-zine a sort of subjective editorial best of the best.

We as readers would love it, but it would be a time consuming infringement on you as our editrix/goddess
God knows you have enough to do just tracking down 15 year olds who are dumb enough to try to post in the adult RPG area.

If there were some way to index them separately, like the top stories and new stories lists do without removing them from thier native categories, it might be a useful way of searching the site.

However, removing them from the category they belong in to put them in an "editor's choice category" would confuse those who only read one or two categories.

I'm sure it would be fairly low on the programmer's list of "nice things to add to the site" though.

...the personal choice of the editor it would be far better to have an H category where the popular choice of the readers can be displayed.

I've read a couple of Es and I haven't seen why they've warranted the honour, but then I wouldn't expect the editors' idea of readable stories to be mine. I would put more trust in popular choice to point the way to a good tale.

Since the H denotes a story that qualifies for the top stories list with a score of 4.50 or better, there already is a list of the stories that earn it. The H isn't displyed on the top stories list, but every story with an H is there at the top of the list.

How about both and...have the story listed in the "editor's choice category" and in the topical section? I also wonder whether other authors, or editors could relieve Laurel of some of the burden by reading and reviewing stories, recommending one's that would be given an "E."

I appreciate recommendations of stories when they appear in the Story Feedback section. I think anything that helps people find well written stories is a plus. As much attention as the scoring draws, I'm not certain its a useful guide for well written story. I've checked some high rated stories that may have been hot, but were really pretty mediocre.

Another suggestion

Can we have a virtual hot tub on site? Or maybe just a bubble bath? I think it would relieve some of the strain on Laurel, Manu and some of the hotter heads among the rest of us.

At the ice cream social "Neopolitan" became the talk of the dip case. Most of the other flavors were infuriated that Vanilla chose to bed in between Chocolate and Strawberry. They knew that there was nothing but trouble in the potential blends and that eventually those mixed flavors would turn up asking to be admitted to their children's school.
