suggest an Av for our only negro.

To the Thread Starter:

If you could read or were registered, you'd be a little easier target, but for the curious I'll try anyway. Discussions of a political and religious nature tend to be stepped over like bums on Peachtree on a porn board. Don't suppose to know my politics without reading what I've already written in other threads. I cajole people into realizing new ideas and thinking less than frivolous thoughts sometimes (but not always). It should make for an interesting evening in front of the encyclopedia and dictionary.

Booker T. is a hero. Both of them.

Now i don't know what is going on but for some reason I had a brainstorm and typed in what does naacp stand for on www.google.com and came up with this.

What does NAACP stand for?

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People

Ok Deb, I'll bite. What was your point? Did you not know this or were you being ironic?

No I seriously did not know this.
I wasn't being ironic at all.
I live in New Zealand (lol the bottom of the world and a lot of things happening in the big wide world we don't know about) and I read the thread and thought ?

Deb,

Thanks for taking the time to look up the info. A lot of people think it's funny that a modern organization involved in civil rights would put colored in their name. But many considered it an improvement over the alternative terms available at the start of the 20th century.

One thing also to point out is that the term "colored" was meant to be inclusive of all people of "color" not just American Negroes but American Indians, Hispanics, and Arabs.

The thread starter was trying to be funny in an anonymous klanish (KKK) kind of way. If you notice whenever I assault someone I usually do it from the front because I want the credit / blame. Are cowards the same in N.Z.? Because I've heard that people are a little more upfront with their likes and dislikes down under. I prefer it that way.

Later

I must be tired, but how could the anonymous poster's link be considered offensive or klanish? Booker T. Washington was a remarkable individual.

HAHAHAHAHa

Marxest the bullshit is runnig out of your ears becasue you are so full of it.

You think people believe your crap? I don't see anyone who does,
just the ones who say your a clown. Loser.

It was suggestive that I shouldn't use extremists of any variety as my av. I like to tell stories with a point and sometimes these pictures help in the narrative. I believe, as do many others of a liberal persuasion, that politics require creativity not passivity. If you read what I wrote above, Booker T. is one of my heroes and I'm quite aware of Black history.

What was "klanish" about the link? In the context of the other threads from the past few days (some started by me) this was an attempt to put me back in my "box". I'm not a tidy package and refuse to treated as such. Booker T. has no place here speaking for me because he wasn't a radical and he himself would find the idea repugnant in much the same way I wouldn't use a pic. of my mother or father here. Get the idea?

IMHO most New Zealanders are upfront with their opinions!
Some of us are subtle, others are like megaphones!

Personally I prefer the idea of being upfront.
Something that I have great respect for are those who stand up for what they believe in .

We, New Zealanders have a lot of great traits :)
And some not so good points too.
Yes we have cowards as does probably any country but you can guarentee that someone will stand up for what is right.
We maybe a small country but when the going gets tough or we look down and out, that is when we seem to do our best.

Thanks for clarifying this thread.
I can't stand those who 'claim' they are better than anyone else because of the colour of their skin.
We are ALL equal! And of the same race, the human race.

:) Peace, harmony on Earth and equality to all.

Thank you for clarifying the issue from your perspective, Marxist. While I agree that Booker T. Washington is incongruous with the persona of a "Marxist," I respectfully disagree with your assessment of him as a non-radical. He demonstrated amazing perseverance, creativity, pragmatism, optimism, and intellect. Considering the era, such character was indeed radical.

This confuses me. Marxist isn't our only negro. We have several. Probably more than we realize because most people don't introduce themselves here. "Hi! NewbiePoster here! I'm black!"

They usually say, "Hi! New here! Be nice to me." Or something.

Some people think of themselves and others in terms of color. They don't speak to a man or a woman, they speak to a black man or a white woman or something. Color is a boundary. Here, that boundary only exists when an asshole decides to make an issue of it.

Marxist is not a black man to me. Marxist is a man to me. He says some things that are occasionally incomprehensible, and he goes off on a bender for reasons that don't always make sense to me. He's intelligent, opinionated, and easily offended. He is culturally different than me and that's fascinating. He just happens to be black. I happen to be brown. So what.

I don't know how important his race is to his identity, but his race is not a part of my perception of him. I've rather accepted him as he is. When I picture him in my head, he is black, kind of like a Black Panther I saw on the cover of a book in a musty old used book store. Fist in the air and bellowing. He does that.

What kind of av should he have? One that doesn't speak, I think. I've got av's turned off, and for a damned good reason too I might add, so when his starts talking, I get vastly confused. No idea what he's talking about.

Really? I didn't realize that anyone with an av would turn off everyone else's avs. May I ask the damned good reason behind your decision? I turned off sig lines about a month ago, and I couldn't be happier. People were pasting novels down there, and it interrupted the flow of the threads.

Thanks Killermuffin, that's what caused me to think ? When I read this thread. "Suggest an av for our only negro"
*shaking head and saddened*
I mean when we get new people who don't say hi, welcome, by the way what colour are you?
:

Hang on.... you can turn off siglines?

It's under Control Panel, Edit Options, Cheffie. And it's a God send. :)

So wait a goddamn minute. All you motherfuckers are making us look at your shit but you don't want to look at ours?
