I submitted a story with the above title. It turns out there is another story of exactly the same name. Is that why my story was not accepted?
Thanks, sublezsue

What was the reason given in the rejection notice? Usually that is made clear at the beginning of the notice. But if you've already read it and clicked out of that page you can not go back to it, alas. If the existence of another story with the same name was in fact mentioned in the rejection notice you read then yes, it sounds like that was the problem. I would change the title and resubmit. If you found out about this other story on your own and do not remember what the reason for rejection was then I have no idea. Maybe send a PM to Laurel if you are truly puzzled. Or post in the Editors' Forum. Maybe someone there will help you out.

Thanks for the info. Actually, I never received any response to the submission. How long does it take to get a response after a submission normally?
I did resubmit the story with a new title "Nurse takes sub sue".

Did you click on the word "rejected" and read the comment about the why it was rejected? It may be a fairly general reason, so you might still not know exactly why. But I think you can go back to the rejection reason as often as you want. I didn't have succes getting a response from Laurel about one of my rejected stories, but may have pm'd her at a busy time.

If you didn't get an actual rejection, then it didn't get rejected. It takes up to about 7 days if you used the submission form, longer if you emailed. If it's accepted, it just posts. And I don't think the title should be a problem. I've seen more than one story with the same name before.

It should say "pending" then after a few days to a week or so, "accepted" or "rejected." You can also resubmit to have a story deleted so you won't have the same story posted twice.

There are a lot of stories with the same title. It may be better to find a new one, but a story is never rejected for that.

It takes time. Look at your submissions page andi f it says 'pending' don't worry (just chew your fingernails). For anything else, after ten days, send Laurel a PM asking about your submission (give as much detail as possible).
