Sue Grafton died

I started a thread here, because I figured it would get a better result.

as you can see no one cares. :(

If Grafton wrote big tittied bimbos who were submissive and solved crime on her knees, more people would know her.

Because someone doesn't respond to one of your threads, that means they aren't sorry Sue Grafton is dead or haven't enjoyed her books? Sorry, it's not all about you.

Wait, no, I guess choosing not to respond to your post in this case was all about you. But news flash, it wasn't about not knowing or appreciating Sue Grafton's books. ;)

And you came to the thread just to take a shot at me. Typical class from the AH's biggest troll.

I enjoyed her storytelling. Whenever I ran across one of her books I had trouble remembering which I had read. Most of them.

There will never be a letter Z.:(

It is sad. I didn't realize how old she was. In my head she was in her fifties. Time goes so fast. but no one can outrun it. I am glad the family is sticking with her wishes and not doing a ghostwriter. They never are quite the same.

Umm, no. Again, it's not all about you. ;)

It is about the sweeping assumptions you make and the rabid attacking you engage in.

I was surprised she was that old too. Her book jacket photo is from her fifties, I'm sure, and I just didn't think beyond that. I had already been watching for when Y went on sale in paperback.

Well, is she comes back from the dead, it could be Z is for Zombies.

She lived in Louisville

Her death is in the local news here in Louisville today. The photos of her
show her to be an attractive 70ish. She was 77.

I foresee a LIT homage series, maybe by Zoe Strapon. Titles include:

A Is For Anal
B Is For Bondage
C Is For Chlamydia
D Is For Doggy-Style
E Is For Erectile Dysfunction
F Is For Frottage
G Is For Genitological

Et fucking cetera.

A is for Avid, as in reader. But after a while I just sort of lost interest. Maybe around M. After I picked up my first Kindle and started devouring books again I purchased one of her newer books but just couldn't get traction with it.
I did admire Grafton's decision to stick with the times and not move into the era of cell phones, computers and social media. At least, that's where she was the last time I read anything about her and the series.
I also admire this, from her obit in the NYT:

“Ask me if I’d ever sell the film or TV rights to these books,” she said in a 2013 interview with The Minneapolis Star Tribune promoting “W Is for Wasted.” “No, I would not. I would never let those clowns get their hands on my work. They’d ruin it for everyone, me more than most.”

I read that and immediately thought of Jack Reacher, the 6-foot-5 hulk created by Lee Child that uber-midget Tom Cruise (5-7) thought would be a perfect role for him.

I couldn't watch the movie because of that. Well that and I don't care for Cruise. Reminds me of Mercury Rising with Bruce Willis who plays a FBI agent protecting a boy with autism that could crack codes. Of course the book was about an African American agent who struggled to protect the white boy because of their race differences. The book also included an Asian assassin that wasn't in the movie, but was the main antagonist.

Ditto. I read quite a few of them a long time ago and enjoyed them too, but I don't think I kept up after about I. I did like knowing there were more of her books out there, waiting for me, when I needed something to read on an airplane.

I did think it would be interesting to have stories for Z and with her setting written by a group of writers here to see what sort of variations could come up within those limits.

Although I am sad at her death, as I would be for anyone, I've not a clue who she is. But assuming I would if she wrote about "big titted bimbos" is both idiotic and very self absorbed.

Believing that everyone should know her means you would be aware if Joe Haldeman, Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle or Steve Barnes had passed.

To paraphrase a famous movie quote,"It depends on what you read as to just how smart you are about the authors".
