Aqua is right. I do have a cat.

The roommate got a girl, the girl made him buy a dresser, start using bedsheets, get matching towels, and then, once settled in, she made him steal a kitten and buy a couple of puppies. I suspect he goes along in lieu of knocking her up, which is probably what she actually wants...

Around that time he also invited his old college roommate to crash on the couch 14 days a month. They overcrowded the place and have now moved as a result.

Leaving me the damned cat. Who is no longer a kitten, but a big, not-neutered tom-cat.

The remaining itinerant guest hereabouts is out of town at the moment, so I know I am in the place alone. Dead quiet.

Out of the corner of my eye the door swings open, and I startle because there was something blocking my line of sight to him sauntering in. He shouldered the door, not to narrowly squeeze through, He bulled it half-way open.

He looks at me like "what?" and leans up against the inside of the door shutting it again.

ETA: He seemed to know I was talking about him. He came over to look at the screen with disapproval

cut the balls or he'll run off and get eaten by a coyote.

I like cats! He's a handskme boy.

I didn't read your whole post, but take good care of him.

Or spray all over the damned house and you'll have to move and burn all your stuff cause of the odour.

*wrinkles nose*

Not neutered, huh?

That is what I'm thinking. He isn't my dammed cat, and I couldn't talk his previous owner/catnapper into taking care of that. He always wanted out and would escape sometimes, and I would chase his ass down and bring him back because I didn't want to be blamed for the cat either finding his way back to his actual home, or to a better owner's house. Now that the weather is nice, I have been letting him roam. He likes that a lot but mostly he likes having the door open so that he can decide whether to stroll or not.

Now that he seems to be my responsibility, I am going to have to drive him 45 miles to at minimum get some shots, and I probably should have it done.

I wasn't sure but twice now I think he marked the door-frame near his food bowl. I sprayed it (the door-frame not the cat though I was tempted) with ammonia to neutralize and to let him know that I am in charge of marking territory. That seems to be working so far. Maybe.

I have been the one changing the catbox litter since the "owner" apparently does not possess olefactory receptors. Now that he is an inside houtside cat, I thought that would lessen. It didn't. He could be out for hours and he would come in to use the box in the bathroom! I was baffled, untill my part time roommate suggested the obvious. "Put the cat box outside."

That worked. Now he ignores it. No issues inside, yet. The fact that he was litterbox trained when he was stolen as a poor "neglected" outside kitten suggests he had an actual owner.

It is true what they say: "Mo' pussy, mo' problems."

The would pronounce it "Icky-ology."

I think this cat has mild separation anxiety. I haven't left for any extended period since the roommate did. He didn't really like the roommate but he got a lot of attention from the girlfriend.

He follows me around like a dog.

Get him fixed . . . yesterday. Check around, as there may be a low-cost rescue-type service place that'll snip the pills and give him a rabies shot. If he's going to go outside too, he'll need the feline distemper stuff and . . . well, all the other crap the vets pump them full of.

Congrats, Big orange boy-cats can be pretty cool. The SO has one, and he likes me. This cat has a lot of personality and is affectionate. They will follow you to see what you're up to.

The nads removal should help with the spraying, but if it doesn't, you may have to let him be an outside cat. It's almost impossible to stop once it starts.
