Hello all!

I'm quite new here and wanted to know your opinions about how I should submit my stories.

Questions:
1. Does the story come out looking better (structure wise) by submitting it in doc from M.S. word?

2. Or should I write it in the text box to submit? (which would take forever)

The reason I ask this is because sometimes the apostrophes can sometimes look like question marks. Anyone else have this problem with M.S. word?

Any other suggestions are appreciated. I've only submitted poetry so far, and I'm excited to share my erotic stories.

Maybe you can give me some of your experiences here when you submit. Good or bad in how they turn out. Any notes I have to leave when I do?

Thank you!

I've uploaded stories two ways, and both of them seem to work okay.

The easiest way is to skip the cut & paste box and go down below it where it says "Upload:" Hit the browse button and you can upload your story as an MSWord. doc file, just like you saved it on the PC. Be forewarned though that italics and some other text formatting won't show in the final story.

The other way is to open your story in MSWord and select the whole thing (hit CONTROL & A), the copy it. Go to the submission page, click in the text box and hit "paste" and it'll transfer the whole story there.

I've heard that using this cut & paste method cuts down on the time it takes for your story to be posted, but I've never found that to be true. Either method takes the same amount of time.

I've also heard that cutting & pasting preserves text formatting, but, again, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Italics are always very dicey for me when I post a story here. I've kind of trained myself not to use them.

In any case, keep your formatting and layout to an absolute minimum, because when stories are translated into the text used on Lit, all those tabs and indents and columns and stuff are lost.

I've never heard of Lit converting apostrophes to question marks. I've heard that the "smart quotes" function n Word can screw things up in Lit though, so you're advised to turn that off. I think the smart quote function is found under "options" in the "Tools" menu in Word.

And use plenty of paragraphs. Big blocks of text look really bad on Lit and scare people off. It's better to have too much blank space than it is to have too little, so when in doubt, start a new paragraph.

Yes, i have the question marks for apostrophes problem.

I've figured out that the submissions post faster if you copy and paste into the text box. I write using word and then copy & paste. It cut 3 to 4 days off posting.

If you have MS Word, use it to write your story, and then copy and paste your story from MS Word into the text box. I haven't had formatting issue using that method.

I think this is along the lines of what the good doctor said, but you could do it in word perfect and copy and paste into the text box. If you do it direct, it'll save italics and all that stuff. You can also write the story in email and copy and paste-Yahoo seems to work better than excite for this. Writing the story in the text box is a pain in the ass although when I first started-that's what I did. I'm not all that computer literate so I'm not sure what MS Word is and I tried that browse thing one time and nothing ever came up-which is probably 'cause I'm not computer literate:D
