I have just submitted a story to the site. How long does it take for them to be accepted, do you know?

Anywhere from 24 hours to two weeks, depending on a lot of factors. Currently if it's not an entry in the holiday story contest, it's running just over two weeks.

Is there a certain place or specific way you have to submit a holiday story or do you just submit them like you would normally?

You submit them the same as you would with any story, but add a note that it is a story contest entry in the "notes" field so Laurel knows it's a "time critical" story. Check the story contests forum or the author's hangout forum for more info on story contests.
