I submitted the final chapter of "My Naughty Neighbors" on a Friday, so it posted on a Sunday. The other 6 chapters all had about 60-80 votes. This one is stuck on 19. Have to be more aware of things like that, if you want folks to find it.
I am mystified by patterns of voting. There is one story on a top list that was posted less than 2 weeks ago and has 500+ votes, while my most recent has a grand total of 19 in over a month.
While on chat, I have had more people that that tell me online that they read and/or liked such and such a story. I ask if they rated it and almost all say "no." So it is very surprising that a 2-week story could gather enough readers to get 500 votes.
I imagine that many readers probably select from the "New" lists and/or the "Top" lists so that there is probably a snowball effect.
Anyway, a feedback from a chat reader is as satisfying as a vote, so I can't complain too much. My favorite reason given for not voting was "I came before the end."
