I submitted a story of illustrated poetry by uploading a word.doc file on 6/15/19. I since re-submitted edits, the latest being submitted 7/15/19. The status seems to be 'pending' with 0 views and 0 ratings. I understand that someone reviewing the submission prior to posting would show as a 'view'. I will soon have a major edit ready to submit, but understand it is most efficient to wait until the pending version is posted before submitting an edit.

How long should I wait before becoming concerned as to the status of my submission? I really have no idea.

I appreciate your patience as I have very little experience with this. Thanks, your comments are appreciated.

They fixed the bug that showed views when it was going through verification.

Also, every time you edit the story prior to it being published sends it to the back of the queue and illustrated stories take a bit longer to get published.

It will get out there unless you continue to edit it.

Thanks so much for your reply. I'll be patient and wait for it to be published, then submit the edit. The edit will, I hope, be finished by then.

One you post the edit it will take about a week to publish, just letting you know ahead of time. So don't get anxious.

Also, if it doesn't post by Tues. you can PM Laurel and ask if it slipped through the cracks. Be polite.

Thanks. I've edited my user CP, and now I think I can send a PM. Is 'Laurel' a user name, or do I need to know Laurel's user name, and what is it, if you don't mind telling me? Thanks for your patience with a new forum user.

Yes, just Laurel.

Thanks. I don't know how long it will take to post my original submission, but, when it does, I'll post an edit and give it at least a week before sending a PM to Laurel.

As I understand it, llustrated stories require more processing for the back end. To save Laurel double handling, I would pull it back now, fix it up, and resubmit. That way it's processed once, goes out as you want it to, and doesn't waste Laurel's time.

That was my concern. I've just about completed this edit, and then I'll resubmit, so it'll only have to be prepared once.

Good call. A premature submission is a bit like premature ejaculation, I reckon. It's a little bit messy, a little bit embarrassing, and no-one is really satisfied. Far better to take a bit longer and get it right ;).

I submitted my 'final' edit. It's status now is 'Pending'. I've received no communication from the site, so I assume they're very busy. I'm a little concerned that there was a line in the FAQ somewhere, that said the site wasn't currently accepting illustrated stories with photographs.

My illustrations don't generally look like photographs, but they're based on photographs, so I don't know if that's a problem. I tried to be careful not to depict the prohibited activities or body parts, so I hope it can be published as is. If there are specific objections, I believe I can edit the illustrations to address them. Right now, it just seems to be 'wait and see'. Thanks for your responses.

Laurel owns and runs this site and reviews every single submission, often over 100 daily. She doesn't email or PM you when/if she approves your story. Just watch the status (once a day is enough) and don't re-edit or otherwise re-start it. Have patience. Check back in 8-10 days.

Thanks for the info. I suspected it was like that. I certainly appreciate her hard work. I don't know how the site software works, but I suspect it might be difficult to convert my word.doc file successfully. I certainly appreciate the effort. The time I put into it will be well worth it, if even a few people 'get it', and enjoy the result. Even if they don't, the work has been its own reward.

The submission was returned to me today, with instructions to submit it to the POEM section. This gives me the opportunity to submit the latest draft. Treating it as a new submission in the POEM section, I filled out a submission form. When I attempted to upload the word.doc file, I double clicked on it. Nothing happened, except the file box went away. This has happened before, and appears to be beyond my control. At some point, I expect to look and find that the file has been uploaded five or six times. Although this is frustrating, I intend to be patient. I'll keep trying. I'd be happy to email the file in, but I'd need advance approval and the correct email address.

No change this morning. I attempted to select my word.doc file without success. I'd be happy to email the file in, with pre-approval and an email address.

I checked in with a PM to Laurel yesterday. Last week I was asked to upload my submission to the 'other' server, so the uploading situation could be investigated. This seemed to go OK. I hope all goes well, and I can get the submission published. Software issues can be difficult to manage, especially with a heavy workload. At any rate, I try to remain hopeful and patient. I appreciate Laurel's efforts.
