And still nadda. Nothing. Zip.

A few more "views," but still "pending." Of course.

Is this astonishingly slow time the standard for this site? Is there favoritism involved? Are there more than, say, two editors working here? Frankly I'm getting to the point where I'm sorry I wasted my time.

Why not re-format the site and have stories submitted in the same way posts are listed within forum threads?

If your only advice is for me to "be patient," don't bother. See ya...

erm, be patient?

Also there is a competition in motion at the moment, when the competitions ae on the entries to those take priority making others take lnoger than usual.

Oh, and I hear they've changed the system again (am I right or was it a momentary blip?) and if you've been going into your document and re-editing it, it sends it back to the very end of the queue.

two weeks is kinda long, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not that long, really.

You have no idea how truely glad I am you asked THE QUESTION. It has been a week since it was last asked.

The answer is somewhat complicated, but here goes.

Generally, according to the FAQS, it takes 7-10 days for a submission to be posted. However, if you happen to be a regular poster on Lit it often takes less. If you post a contest story, it will be posted in one day.

However, you asked THE QUESTION. That changes everything. At this point, the contest ends on October 22nd. Your story will not even be reviewed for posting until after the contest is over. Then it will be placed in a pile with all the other people who asked THE QUESTION. Eventually, it will be reviewed, passed around laughingly and posted. I would guess that will be sometime in mid-2012.

:)

Because Literoica has standards and strict limits on what they will publish; going to an instant posting system like the forums would remove any possibility of editorial control except deleteing posts after the rules have been violated for all the world to see.

If you can't be patient, then don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

No, two weeks seems a bit longer than average. If the submission load is unusually high, it can happen though.
Is there favoritism involved?
No. (or at least none i've seen even a hint of)
Are there more than, say, two editors working here?
No idea.

Quality control. Literotica is here primarily for the readers, and they expect stories that live up to a certain standard. Lit doesn't accept stories with certain content, or too poor English. Also, there's the issue of publishing responsibility. The owners are the content publishers and as publishers they are responsible for said content. This means that every story must be screened, which is a manual process that takes time.

I put up with the long turnover times this generate because it guarantees that my stories are in reasonably good company.

Actually, the wait is driving me up the wall--but that's mostly because I haven't had to wait longer than a few days before. Oh well, I think I'll just pull it and edit it and slap it back up there in a few days.

Everyone who's submitted many stories know... its not even really like a queue--though it kinda works that way. Sometimes, you get lucky and click submit--and someone just happens to throw it up in a day.

Its like gambling.

When any of the editors see my stuff I can hear the laughter and the comment, "There that crazy Jackson bitch again. Hahahahahahahaha ."

Typically mine go up in 3 to 5 days though.

There is one more thing that hasn't been mentioned. If the submission is by email, it always takes a lot longer because they have to correct the formating the Lit's format. I always use the copy/paste on the submission form. That saves a lot of waiting.

In addition to all the above, it's my impression Lit tries to make sure every story gets to spend at least one day on page one of the NEW list. That's important for getting views. Once a story rolls off that page, views drop rapidly. After a week, the story will drop off the list and views will almost completely dry up.

So if there are a lot of submissions, it will take longer for a story to post.

Another additional consideration: Lit also tries to post a variety of categories every day; if your story is in a popular category or is concurrent with a rush of submissions in it's category, it can take longer to find a spot on the NEW list than a story in a category with few pending submissions would.

Maybe I'm being a bitch, but oh well.

Lit needs more people reading and monitering...

I've never seen Harold say anything like that before.

Harold's posts are always diserning, intelligent, and informative. He gives excellent advice.
I think his statement was as they always are.
:D

I'm a regular poster with an average wait time of 3-5 days, but my last new story took about two weeks to go up. It's poor timing posting stories when contests are going on so I'm waiting till at least one of them ends before I start submitting again. Gives me time to kill a few chapters, maybe start a new story while waiting. My regular readers will be giddy when they see a new chapter posted more often than what they're used to, especially when one has nicely asked me to write faster. Patients is a virtue! :D

Exactly.

Submitting during a contest only means a delay in posting, so why not do it? I mean, if the story is written, and you're happy with the finished piece, go ahead and put it in the queue.

If you wait until after the contest, chances are the story will go up even later. I've got six stories waiting for approval right now. I don't expect to see them posted until next week. I may be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not betting on it. I'll just be happy when they go up.

One question nobody has asked:

Is this perhaps an illustrated or audio story? Those take even longer than usual to format and post.

Is your other screen name Scouries?

No, this is the first time I've registered here, or written "erotica" for that matter. Thanks for everyone's input...although, as is the case with every online forum, I see there are a few haters around lol

There's an ulterior reason behind the enormous time delay issue. Someone else was waiting on my little stories - no biggie, as I instead copy/pasted them and presented elsewhere. I'll likely delete the three that were submitted and take my leave. It may perhaps be benefitial, however, for the site's owners to re-write the submission guidlines/questions as an average of three days is drastically different than three weeks.

Honestly, there's not a hater among the people who responded to you. You asked a question that people here hear all the time and they poked a little fun. If you read much of the posts here you'll find that a mainstay of the conversation. Good luck whereever you go. :rose:

Magica also forgot to point out that you were a tad abrupt in your initial post and that can put peoples' backs up.

Patience is a virtue, find it where you can, seldom in a woman, never in a man ;)

Anyway, go elsewhere with your stories if you must, but it's a shame, because being accepted on Literotica denoes some kind of standard that can be lacking on less rigorously moderated sites.

Lit doesn;t mind double posting, so why not submit somewhere else for speed and submit here for quality? See what works best for you in the long run.
