Ha! Not so easy to determine. As far as I've been able to tell, there's not a line, much less a fine line, between submissive and dominant. For example, in my case, I'm quite dominant in my normal life and usual daily activities. But sexually, or in sexual situations, I might begin to exhibit more and more of my submissive side. But even so, it's not like it's instant, or like a final leap, ...it's all a gradual change from one to the other. And to add something, I think a dominant man can bring that submissive side of me into the open far more than someone not so dominant.
