First, you have to run naked through the streets. Than, you need to post pictures of said running naked through the streets. Than, when you least expect it, BAM! Your story will be posted.

Seriously though, it takes 3 to 7 days, unless there is a contest in progress. Don;t click the Pending button either, or it will send your submission back to the end of the queue.

I believe the FAQ's say 3-5 days, but could be longer too. When a contest is running, normal stories take longer, while those in the contest post in a day.

As long as it's pending, 'don't touch that dial'. If you do, it goes back into the queue and the time starts all over again.

These folks are right, it usually takes from 3 to 5 days for a story to post....it seems like a long time but just write another so you'll have one to submit when the other is posted.....Welcome to AH and good luck............

Hi, Charlie, and welcome to Lit. and the AH in particular. It usually takes about three days to post a story but, when there is a contest in progress, as there is now, it will take a little longer. However, there could be a problem if you sent the story as the attachment to an email. They take a lot longer that way. The best and the fastest way is to open an account and, when you have your own index page, copy and paste.

ETA: I almost forgot to mention, there are some strange people here,. and I may be the strangest. Don't worry about that, though, because we are mostly helpful to newcomers, especially if you supply us with candy and good booze.

ETA: I just discovered you asked this first on the GB. If you are an author, avoid that place as much as you can. They and we in the AH are much like the Hatfields and McCoys or the Montagues and Capulets or cats and dogs or Ohio State and Michigan or Duke and UNC or....well, you get the idea.

Oh, that's right. So as her stand in...

Normally posting take 3 to 5 days according to the FAQS unless there is a contest going on in which case it takes longer. However, since you asked the QUESTION, your story is now in a different posting mode. There will be a few additional, tiny requirements.

1. You will need to submit a certified copy of your drivers license.
2. You will need a note from your mother saying she knows your are posting on a porn site and gives her absolute and irrecoverable permission to do so.
3. You will need to deposit $500 in my personal bank account.
4. Finally, you will have to sign a pledge to never ask the question again.

After you have done all that, your story will go to the Post-QUESTION review board who will accept or reject your story at their whim and depending upon the amount of alcohol consumed at the time. After acceptance the story will be placed in the Post-Question Que for posting sometime in late 2081.
