Does anyone else here like or have ever listened to STYX?

If so, what is your favorite song?

And why do you like them?

good lord

haven't heard styx mentioned since my mustache was blond. i use to listen to them quite a bit. but at my age derned if i can remember why...they had many good songs and just as many bad.:)

Loved Styx. Also Damn Yankees and Shaw Blades... guess that reveals my age a bit.
I don't have a favorite song though. Hmmm....
wonder where I put those albums?

Hate 'em!

I admit, they had some catchy stuff.

But, how many commercials did they get?

Cream has them beat. The Stones. The Beatles.

You have to use RL benchmarks to determine the value of art!

Aku...

Anything off of Pieces of Eight...

People who don't like Styx, are not Musicians...Too hard to Play

But to the Listening Ear...They have some great stuff...

Do you like Kansas?:)

No it's not :p....just a few offbeats, and 5/8 beats in it....Chords are actrually not that hard.

And yes Styx is great...even when you get to hear it at 4 am in the morning becasue some boneheads choose to play it real loud :p

(definately NOT pointing fingers at Val and Ravenloft)

Well, X-Man excluded...

How many 5/8's Platinum albums did they have in a row till The Paradise Theatre? wut musical schemes did Kansas Have?:)

KANSAS!

styx WAS great...

till they got rid of Dennis DeYoung.

I like most of their music, and have met Tommy Shaw, a nice guy, but I just saw them in concert a few months ago, and they sucked wtih this new guy who tries to steal the show. He thinks it's HIS band, adn it never was, and never will be.

Lobito

Out of 'em all, I like Tommy Shaw's Rockin'

He can Rock!!!!!!!!

But they were always so good together...

They had such great ballads, too...Lady, Here at the Paradise,...

Renegade iz probably my favorite...And Snow Blind, And Miss America...:D

STYX adn Kansas

I saw Styx in concert last summer. Come Sail Away is my all time favorite. However, they did a medley of several of their tunes that was incredible.

I saw Kansas the summer before. Good concert and great band. However, they opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd who took the show!

Excuse me? One broke up years ago, the other died! That's another version of Milli Vanilli you got to see!

Styx. A competent band.
So was Foreigner. Journey. Loverboy. J Giels. Hall&Oates. Oasis. But great?

That's Yardbirds, Zepplin. Cream. Floyd, Pinkus. Hendrix. Stones (maybe). Beatles(even maybe-er). Iggy Pop. Sex Pistols. Clash. Nirvana.

People who changed the way other musicians viewed music.

Even Kiss had more impact than Styx. Selling a lot, don't make you great.

Give me some of your own Lyrics here...

Styx

Grand Illusion is my favorite.
Snowblind is another.

Don't Fall In Love...

But then again You're crazy White Guys
Phony, Phony
Wut's your True Shade?

Talk Shows are your Trade

Hate to stay with Family

Let's Crank Up the Show...

Styx's early stuff was quite cool.

If you can get past Dennis DeYoung's wussy ballads, (gagging) you've got some kick-ass guitar rock. JY and Shaw both play respectable leads, I saw them live a long time ago (God, am I old) and they brought the house down.

"Blue Collar Man" rules

Demian, you may know more about music. I'll give you that, even though I grew up in the culture with musicians in the music industry and play several instruments. Even played in the Marine Corps band at my duty station. Man we sat in the barracks and drand and cried when Lynryd Skynryd bit the big one. But STYX?I'm with PH, even with Ted they had too little testosterone, Say what you will about any individual's "talents," they're still wussies. Like Journey, or Foreigner...

You were cool when you liked Ted. But this is dead. Axel Rose could kick Styx's collectice ass! On this thread I could take a pass!

What was the first tune you remember hearing? For me it was Hang on Sloopy, Sloopy hang on and Henery the Eighth I am I am. But what was the first tune that grabbed you by the ball and made you think, oh...

ONE OF THESE DAYS I'M GOING TO CUT YOU INTO LITTLE PIECES!

I'll just bet it wasn't by STYX!

Sorry to have shredded you rice paper. Got any more?
