Stupid Question From A Noobie

Hey guys, I just got signed up on the site and I want to start contributing a few threads and maybe a story once I get a bit more experienced. I just had a quick question, say a story gives the reader the option to name their character in the beggining. How would I use that chosen name when I'm adding a thread, I assume it would be something along the lines of "<firstname>" or something of the sort, but I just wanted to know.

Also if there is any kind of thread on the forums like a 'Getting Started' tutorial for posting on Chyoo I'd appreciate it if someone could link me to it because I couldn't find one, if not it's no big deal.

Welcome to CHYOO! Hope you find all you need here.

I'm not sure about a "Getting Started" thread, but I think there's a seriously old thread somewhere giving advice and tips on writing for CHYOO which would be really useful for noobs.

To added reader-chosen names to threads, simply write {FIRST_NAME} for the first name and {LAST_NAME} for last names. Just be careful and read the first thread when doing this though, as some writers (switch76 for instance) like to use the {LAST_NAME} slot for a girl's name, so the player can write a random boy's and girl's name in their story.

Thanks alot! The FAQ was pretty helpful and I'll be ready to start adding to some stories pretty soon. The first one I wanted to add to was Vampire Fledgling by the way, which I think was one of yours

You're damn right it's one of mine, and any additions will be gladly accepted. Vampire Fledgling is my favourite of all my stories, but I know it doesn't appeal to everyone and it only gets a relatively small readership. I'd really appreciate any additions.
