It is all I can do sometimes to keep myself from driving to the local radio station to knock these stupid DJs out! They make jokes that are NOT in the least bit funny but yet laugh at their own comments. I swear I don't understand how they stay on the air? Oh, forgot that I live in TN there for a min.

To me they rate right up there with the inane football commentators.

Buncha 400lb vacuous freaks.

LOL You just described Ambro. Though he does prefer to be called an "on-air personality." Apparently DJs are in strip clubs and on-air personalities have real jobs.

as a college radio DJ for 4 years and 2 more in community radio and various and the occasional sundry club gigs - I can firmly avow that I am NOT, NEVER was, and NEVER will be an on-air personality, a term at, community radio at least, describes someone (ala Stern or Imus) who doesn't spin their own records or even control the board.

Local radio - I feel your pain, most towns are lucky to 3 or 4 good radio shows, let alone stations. Boston, I miss thee radio, may be an exception, but even here in New York, most radio, simply blows.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN

We, in California, have a radio station that plays alot of the old Motown favorites. Unfortunately, most of the DJ's are not exactly my favorites.

The morning DJ name is George Lopez. He's supposed to be a stand up comedian/DJ but he actually sound like someone trying to fake a very poor Mexican accent. He cracks a few jokes for for his presentations and commercials and impersonates a "cousin" named Danny Boy but he is so far from funny

The evening DJ is Smokey Robinson. Yes, the singer. He was pretty good as a singer but he does not have a radio voice to be a DJ. Like Mr. Lopez, he tries to crack jokes but they're not funny. But what makes me change the station is when he tries to give love and relationship advises to the listeners or reminisces about his Motown days and the friendship he shared with other Motown artists. He's about as exciting as skin warts.

Therefore, my day practically revolve around a talk radio station. While I am working over night, I listen to these 2 guys named John & Jeff (www.johnjeff.com). They always seem to have interesting subjects to talk about. And I love to hear them talk about something that includes their sexy, Nubian producer, Christa. After they are done, I listen to Howard Stern. I think we all know him. I've been a Stern listener for over a decade now. By this time, I am asleep from my nearly graveyard schedule. But while I am driving to work (and for a few hours while working), I listen to a guy name Tom Leykis (www.blowmeupTom.com) also known as the Professor of Leykis 101. He teaches his listeners how to handle their love and sex life, despite the fact that he's on his 4th marriage. But what can I say, he hasn't been wrong yet.

Lucky the local radio guys around here have a witty woman to crack the funny jokes for them.........

They all usually have a woman co host.

Personally, I can't stand DJ's or on-air personalities.

We all blow.

I agree

Here in The Finger Lakes in NY, we don't have many great DJ's out their. I don't mind being a goof, and just being silly. But, your right, MOST DJ's jokes aren't even that funny. Right now I'm listening to "The Con-Man Radio Show." It's world-wide, so maybe you've heard it. He's THE GREATEST DJ I've heard.
