Emma Mishel tested for discrimination in hiring processes by sending applications for advertised administrative jobs in the USA.

She found that a resume which included experience in a progressive student organisation had a 17% chance of getting an interview offer, but changing this to a specifically LGBT student organisation dropped that to 12% - i.e. looks as if being identifiably LGBT makes women about one-third less employable.
