I'm a bit confused. I have a story which has been pending for more than two weeks. Two that I have submitted subsequent to that, have both been published. I had assumed that they would be published in submission order. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there any way to find out if there is a problem with this story in particular or the system in general?

TIA

The only thing you can really do is PM Laurel.

The only time this happened to me was when I submitted a story for an event, and the stories for the event were all due to go live on a specific date. Other stories I submitted afterwards got posted beforehand. That's not the case here, is it?

Thanks. Just sent a message.

I'm even more confused than ever. A story I submitted 2 days ago has just been published. Yet the original one quoted in this thread is still pending. No response to a PM sent to Laurel.

Possible explanations:
1) Laurel has not yet had a chance to read your message or react to it (she usually doesn't reply to such messages except by taking action on the subject matter).
2) The story in question triggered one or more (hypothetical) automated review systems. We don't know if any are actually used, but there are probably some designed to catch potential issues like underage content, common grammatical or formatting errors, and AI-generated text. The volume of submissions is high enough that some form of automation seems necessary, even if the editor is just skimming most of them. It's quite possible that any such stories get punted to a separate queue that is dealt with only after the 'low-hanging fruit' is plucked, since they require extra scrutiny to either validate the warning flags or determine that they were false alarms.

Well, another week passes. I've now had four stories published, since the one at the beginning of this thread. That one is still pending. No response from Laurel. This, postings and replies in this and other forum sections, are pushing me to the conclusion that the entire site is now run by AI. Decisions made, permissions removed, things blocked all with no communication at all. I'm almost at the point of deleting the pending story, giving it a new title and description and resubmitting it. I've been through it in minute detail, I can't see anything which would even remotely be against the site rules.
