After reading savage kitten's thread on poetry to music I got to wondering about the other side of the coin.. I.E. : lyrics that can be poetry when taken away from the music,,,

.
But what happens if you strip away the artist. the video and the music will it still work as poetry?

, I only want the words that mean some thing to you or the ones that " spoke " to you.. I'll start with this from Dido.. And the words to slide,,

Even on a day like this, when your crawling on the floor
Reaching for the phone to rang anyone who knows you any more
Its all right to make mistakes, your only human
Inside everyone's hiding some thing
Starring at same four walls , have you tried to help your self
The rings around your eyes they don't hid, that you need to get some rest
Its all right to make mistakes, your only human
Inside every body's hiding some thing
Take time to catch your breath and chose your moment

Don't slide

Even at a time like this when morning seems so far
Think that pains belongs to you, but it's happening to us all
It's all right to make mistakes. Your only human
Inside everybody's hiding some thing
Take time to catch your breath and chose your moment
Don't slide
You've bought this on yourself and it's high time you left it there
Lie here and rest your head and dream of some thing else instead

do you still consider the words that are left as a form of poetry?.... let me know what your feeling are on this , i would be very intrested to know.

What's My Age Again?

What's My Age Again?

by Blink-182 © 1999 (from their album "Enema of the State")

I took her out.
It was a Friday night.
I wore cologne
To get the feeling right.

We started making out
And she took off my pants
But then I turned on the TV -

And that's about the time
She walked away from me.
Nobody likes you when
You're twenty-three

And are still more amused by
TV shows.
What the Hell is ADD?
My friends say I should act my age.

What's my age again?
What's my age again?

Then later on,
On the drive home,
I called her mom
from a pay phone.

I said I was the cops
And your husband's in jail.
This state looks down on sodomy -

And that's about the time
That bitch hung up on me.
Nobody likes you when
You're twenty-three

And are still more amused by
Prank phone calls.
What the Hell is call ID?
My friends say I should act my age.

What's my age again?
What's my age again?

And that's about the time
She walked away from me.
Nobody likes you when
You're twenty-three

And you still act like you're
In Freshman year.
What the Hell is wrong with me?
My friends say I should act my age.

What's my age again?
What's my age again?

That's about the time that
She broke up with me.
No one should take themselves
So seriously

With many years ahead to
Fall in love.
Why would you wish that on me?
I never want to act my age.

What's my age again?
What's my age again?

I really need the tune to get the rhythm here.

I am not a big rock fan but have listened to this song till I scratched the mp3.
I know now that my only criticism of this thread is that when I read the words I want to go and listen to it again.
There is a way to hear it at the end.

FRUITCAKE by Pony©

you never told me that your dad was such a fruitcake
i'd seen the pictures but i thought maybe he'd changed
the things he talked about seemed way too convoluted
you never mentioned that your dad was so deranged

can i be so bold as to ask if you would want to run away

you'll never have to see that old insipid fruitcake
you'll never have to hear him screaming for his beer

you told me you lived on a farm with lots of horses
i wish that i could ride the horses in your brain
you always told me that your mom was strong and healthy
i wish i'd been there then to save her from that train

can i be so bold as to ask if you would want to be my girl

you'll never have to run outside and put his clothes on
you'll never have to cover his ears when it rains

i will take you away, i will put you in my car
i can see anything, i see your beauty through your scars

for a while i think i'll sit out in my backyard
and pick some daisies i can put into your hair
maybe later i can teach you how to wrassle
and you can tell me how the pyramids got there

can i be so bold as to ask if you would want to be my girl

you'll never have to see that old decrepit fruitcake
you'll never have to hear him screaming for his beer

i will take you away, i will put you in my car
i can see anything, i see your beauty through your scars
i will take you away, take you far away from this place
everything we leave behind will be gone as soon as we're gone
