Strip club question

I'm thinking about taking my friend to a strip club for her birthday. Neither of us have been to one before, and I'm curious how the bouncers work. Many stip clubs offer free entrance for women, but due to a mistake by the stupid DMV, my ID still says male on it. While I've never had a problem at the few clubs I've been to, they've never had a (quite sexist, actually) female discount.

So, for those who frequent such places, does the bouncer who checks IDs usually collect entrance fees as well, or is the money typically handled by someone else who would never see my ID? These things worry me...

From my experience, the guy at the door usually collects the fees. It's usually only $5 or less, though. If you're worried about that little, you probably shouldn't be at a strip club, anyway. :D

The door man generally collect the fees, sometimes there is a window and a chashier. They are very expensive places to visit for either sex.

There is usually someone at the door who takes the money and they most likely WILL look at your ID. It is my experience they are only looking for the date and would look at YOU to determine gender. I gess if it is hard to tell if you are male or female then they might look. If they do look at the ID, they will believe male regardless of what you say, since it is a governement ID and all.
There may be a discount for ladies, but in my opinion (from being a stripper) that you shouldn't get a discount but that's another story. It may be as little as $3 or as high as $20, well at least around here anyway. It is usually dependant upon whether or not the place sells booze, is a juice bar, or is BYOB. also this will reflect how cheap or expensive dances and the like are. Example, places I worked with $20 dances, the cover was $3-5, place with $25-30 dances the cover was $5-10.
And I agree with what was said previously, if you object to paying a piddly cover, then I can promise you're not walking in with enough money to have any fun.

Bring 3 or more girls if you are a guy and the bouncer will let them in for free and only charge you. It's called "rollin' dirty"

The places I've been to had a counter or window with a cashier who both carded, and took any door fees. The bouncer was a separate entity who mainly kept an eye on who came and left; ensured that people who were meant to leave did so; probably looked out for regulars / VIPs / that sort of thing.

You're probably fine with your borky ID. :)

I can honestly say I've never heard that phrase before, but I also worked at places where this would be frowned upon.

Thanks everyone. It's not the money I'm worried about, but the awkwardness of the conflicting ID. I know it's probably nothing, but it worries me. Legally, and as far as anyone can tell, I'm a girl. Unfortunately, the DMV decided to tie me up in bureaucracy, so it's going to take quite some time to get it fixed.

So, therefore, it must not exist because you say so?

Really? Seriously? Where, exactly, do you get that from?

All they said was, "I've never heard of that before. But the place I worked at wouldn't have allowed it." Which CLEARLY suggests that that would be part of the reason they'd never heard of it before.

Who widdled in your teacup tonight?

One thing you might want to check into before you go: Some clubs refuse to admit unescorted women; apparently they're concerned about prostitutes doing business or even trolling for customers in the club. I'd recommend calling the club beforehand and making sure that two women will be allowed in before you go.

Pretty much what I was going to say...

It's also because girls rarely make money off of unaccompanied women. But your reasons are correct as well.

There would be three women actually. I'm not sure if it makes a difference to them. The only reason we're going is for the girls, not that they can tell by looking at us.

While I've never gone unaccompanied by a male friend, I was told by more than one of the girls that many places enjoy having some women there, especially sitting next to the stage. Even if the girl doesn't tip very well, the dancer will often gravitate to her, getting better tips out of the nearby men. (Girl + girl = hawt?)

I can't speak for any clubs other than the one I preferred, of course; but it sure worked when I was there. It makes a certain sort of sense.

I wasn't complaining. It was fun, and I wouldn't go hang at the stage unless I thought the girl was cute anyway. :)

I -did- get a fantastic bruise on my shoulder once from one of their boots, though. Man, that hurt.

when I go, I always go with my Girl. She never pays, it's kinda fun because she knows a few of the staff from other bars she worked at.

Oh to answer your quiry the mistake on your I.D. would prevent you from getting into the club I go to the door man or men or very strict when it comes to proper I.D. Michelle may get in for free but her I.D. is still checked.
