I am so stressed out over this new job that I am a mess. Ill and feverish. And I have to work in the morning.

Anyone else have this or am I overreacting? What have others done to de-stress? Or deal with it?

Don't know why I am so worried about this job. Guess I don't want to be a failure...so scared that I am making myself a nervous wreak.

Take a deep breath and say "Its going to be ok".

Whats the new job? And why are you so worried about it?

I usually cause the stress not relieve it. Just be yourself at your new job and all will be fine, You will make more mistakes by trying to hard then not at all. Scream therapy works well here!

;)

I have been trying that...and it does work. And then I slip back into worrying. I had a very stressful and demanding job a few years ago. And ever since then I haven't been able to deal with stress or people very well. And this job is as a florist in a very upscale shop. The girl I am replacing...keeps saying I lied on my resume...and that I don't have the skills. I have been a florist in 13 years...and so now I am beginning to think that my skills are very out of date. But that is basically it.

I'm sure that your florist skills are up to par, lets face it the main factor is floristry (sp?) is flair - right? You either have it or you don't. You never would have become a florist if you didn't have the natural flair....and it just doesn't go away. So some of the styles may change over the years but so does fashion and I'm sure you don't go around wearing bubble skirts....your talent will prevail.

It sounds to me like the girl you are replacing is on an ego trip, trying to make herself appear better than you. Don't let her get to you.

You'll do great!!!

Thank you kindly Bindii...that is what one other person thought. I thought also that maybe she is worried that when she comes back (she is pregnant) that they wont give her the same hours that she gets now.

Ah its all falling into place now.....she's a jealous bitch. She's thinking that you'll do a better job than her!

I say do a better job than her.....it would serve her right.

Take the new job as walking into a new relationship, smile and be happy. You know what its all about, just not what it involves. You wont walk into it knowing everything. You will make mistakes and probably be expected. Just remember to ask questions. The biggest beef I have is when I get a new employee and they dont ask questions, and no question is ever considered by me. I trust my salon with 21-24 yr old kids and they know how I like my operation run. Still to the day the girl I made manager asks me a few questions about things, and she has been with me for 1-1/2 yrs.

Just remember that no question is ever dumb ... if you aren't sure what to do, ask. I hope I helped

Good Luck

Bindii...thank you for making me feel better. I think that I should re-read this before I go in tomorrow :)

Yes you have Thunder...very much so. I am always asking questions. I went into this. Knowing that how we ran things in the other shop...would be different then here. Since there are different people and it is a different shop. So they would have different ways of doing things. I think maybe in a way that is why she feels that I do not have the skills. But I just wanted to make sure I did things right...their way and not maybe the way my other employers did. Make sense?

I'm glad that you feel better, but it wasn't me that made you feel that way.....its just that you have now been able to put this womans comments into perspective and that you know you have talent. You just had to believe in yourself.

You'll do great....and we expect a 'happy at work today' thread tomorrow to prove it!

hehehe well I only have to work with her tomorrow (oops mean today) and on Thursday. Wednesday is another section...since I am in training for another section also. And Friday and Saturday are my days off.

Just don't let her get to you - if she's that sort of person she's likely to try.

Good luck, I'll be thinking of you.
