Fantasy Stratagy Game (Starting soon.. still got more room though!)

Welcome to my stratagy game yet to be named. For those of you interested in playing the game please read through the below post and if you have any questons or comments feel free to post them.

First things first:

Starting Troops
-10,000

Starting Civilians:
-15,000

Important Buildings: (See my intro for example)
-City: 15 (Not including castle)
-Village: 8
-Outpost: 5

(Note: For every 2 farming stat points you will gain a farming outpost, for every 2 market stat points you gain a village, and for every 3 warfare stat points you gain a city. )

You start with 6 stat points and stat points are used to upgrade your stats:

Stats
Farming~To feed men (For ever point you can feed 7,500 more men a week.)
Market~To recruit men (For ever point you can recruit 5,000 more men a week.)
Warfare~To train men (For ever point you can train 5,000 more men a week.)
Mineing~To equip men (For ever point your equipment will get better.)

Your stats will be raised depending on how well you roleplayed to improve them.
For example you roleplay that you add water channels to improve your crops water supply. The better the invention the more the points.

How battles would work is depening on how good of a strat you roleplayed. So if you made up some kickass idea to defeat 1,000 chargeing men and it would really work then thats what would happen.

I don't know what to say about this thread, other than it seems to be a rather original idea. Or at least it is to me. This also sounds like it is very complicated. How's it going to work?

Ah I have run strategy stuff here before and I would be glad to play as long as you iron out a few things....Most importantly the setting your going to play in....I am sure some folks like mordern. I know fantasy is very popular and science fiction has a following but all are played very differently. Never mind handling things like religion and government.

Sounds like you have some good ideas..perhaps start out Generic twenieth century tech...start around WWI...and keep advancing. You can even have aliens if you want just with them a few tech levels ahead.

Also you have to have rules about research and development and most importantly have an idea about combat. I take it you will be the referee in battles.

I am interested and would be willing to help you develop something...this could be a lot of fun.

Well the first step as Jagged said is chooseing what kind of game it is. Fantasy, modern or the such...because the choice will change the outline of the entire game. I have put together a few ideas for different games so let me know what you guys want.

Fantasy:
Start W/ 12,000 units

Elven Archers~3,000
Dwaren Fighters~4,000
Human Apprentice mage~1,500
Goblin Illusionist~2,000
Giants~1,500/300

The way heavy artillery will work is for every 5 units spent you get one actual.

Stats: (Start with 6 )
farming~ 2 (Feed 1,500 more men a day)
market~ 2 (Recruit 500 more men a day)
warfare~ 1 (Train 1000 more men a day)
technology~ 1 (Simple spells, low-range bows, short swords, small clubs)
2 (Same as above)
3 (Same as above)
4 (moderate spells, mid-range bows, axes, spiked mace)
5 (Same as above)
6 (Same as above)
7 (High level spells, long-range bows, double axes , large warhammer)
8 (Same as above)
9 (Same as above)
10 (mastery spells, magical bows, cleric levels, can cast flameball spell)

modern:
Start W/ 15,000 units

Snipers~2,500
Troops~5,000
Explosives~2,500
Air Units~3,000
Artillary~2,000/400

The way heavy artillery will work is for every 5 units spent you get one actual.

Stats: (Start with 8 )
farming~ 1 (Feed 750 more men a day)
market~ 1 (Recruit 500 more men a day)
warfare~ 1 (Train 1000 more men a day)
technology~ 4 (pistal, low-range snipers, grenades, 1 pound shells)
2 (Same as above)
3 (Same as above)
4 (machine gun, mid-range snipers, rockets, 5 pound shells)
5 (Same as above)
6 (Same as above)
7 (tank killers, long-range snipers, c-4 , 10 pound shells)
8 (Same as above)
9 (Same as above)
Alien Tech10 (plasma weapons, alien snipers, mini nukes, 20 pound infused shells)

Of course all unit types, amounts, and tech devolpment is up to you. You can have 3 types or more. So let me know what everyone thinks....

I also changed the stats a bit here are the new ones.

Stats
Farming~To feed men (For ever point you can feed 750 more men a day.)
market~To recruit men (For ever point you can recruit 500 more men a day.)
Warfare~To train men (For ever point you can train 1000 more men a day.)
mineing~To equip men (For ever point your equipment will get better.)

I'm interested, especially when the opportunity to stomp Irish and Jagged into the ground presents itself :D

Seriously though, be forwarrned; with my job, I sometimes can't post for a week or more, sometimes I can post every day... more of the former though. :(

well anyone who wishes to play post that you do. we need like 4-5 players at least. also post what kind of game you want to play.

Thought I would bump this to see if anyone wanted to play now.

Question..............

Hey renegade .... It's me Macmillian ..... Sounds similar to the Sci-Fi you put together on the colonization of a new planet. Count me in if you want to. I like the idea too.

Make it fantasy .... may I suggest smaller numbers to start and then to make alliances and treaties to grow. If you start out with a big inventory it gets bigger and becomes unwieldy.

Just a thought.

Macmillian

Well well another one wants to join...kewl. We got 4 now includeing me so If another person doesent post to play in a few days them i'll get the game rolling.

I'm thinking starting troops of 5,000 and fantasy based any objections please post them. Thank you.

Reply....

I have a question or two / +How are you going to decide who has what villages, cities, farms and industry, so forth and so on.

Example Ruling class / King & Queen They have to split up the five hundred men (500)
Standard troops 500
Loyal troops 100 -10 = 90
Castle troops 100 -10 == 90
calvery 80 -6
Infantry 120
Irregulars/Malitia 100 -10 = 90
Added to be taken from the standard rank of the 500
Spies / and the sort 10
Quartermaster Corp./ 20
Messengers / 6
There are other things needed by the army and those have to be delr with also. So I f we are allowed 500 men, they can be rearranged anyway the player would like. and the total number would still be the 500.

Main Walled town with castle, residence of the King & Queen.
The Town; XX # of buildings.
Church
Inns(2)
Blacksmith / Foundry
Metal Worker / Shop
Wood Worker / Shop
Baker / shop & Ovens
Weapons maker & repair / Shop
Misc other shops and homes

You will have to asign a total number of men, women, and children in each town or community. Leaving the player to plce people where he feels the needs the most. This would also apply to smaller towns, farming communities, fishmen, Wood cutters , artiscens and religious leaders.

1 Large Town/ Walled w Castle ..... 300 Men, 200 Women, 75 Children
1 Large town / Open ..... 200 Men, 125 Women, 60 Children
2 Small villages / simple wall of wood./ ..... 100 Men, 100 women, 50 Children
3 Farming Co-op fenced in / ..... 50 Men, 50 Women 25 Children

men ...... 850
Women .. 675
Children . 310

Adding anything else would require the gamer to find the people among his own. A brewer, a candlestick maker, an armourer, Magistrates, fisherman. Just another list.

Just my thoughts ....

Macmillian

Renegade .... This is going well. Have been over on the other side, "SRP". didn't seem to be much going on here. Several threads started and then stopped. Thought I would give it another try.

How does this one look to you? I wouldn't mond playing as long as I know the ground rules.

Hope to be able to work with you again.

Macmillian.......

Gender: Male
Race: Human
Height: 5'7"

Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Platnum Blond
Body Type: Slender and thin

Reverend is a shape shifter as are all Trueblood dragons. In his human form, he appears as a young, handsome man in his early 20's with a somewhat pale complexion and long, platnum-blonde hair. He sometimes has a pair of silver-white, reptilian wings with his form. his eyes are ice blue with black, Y-shaped pupils. Reverend has no family that he will speak of. He has not taken a female to wife nor does he show any interest in any female among his colony aside from professional interest.
Divine's Blessing is primarilly a mining and smithing community set within a large plateu. The bulk of the community is carved into the surrounding rock with some agriculture settled atop. There are also some settlements in the plains below, but trade is nessessary to provide for the resources that Divine's Blessing lacks. All have come at the calling of their spiritual leader, a true-blooded dragon-priest, known only as 'Reverend.' One of the last of a dying breed in this world. Reverend sees great promise in both the location of his new 'project' and the chance to re-introduce draconic culture, guidance and mysticism so that the wisdom of dragonkind will not be lost among these squabbling children, struggling for dominance in the future-time. Reverend himself lairs in a deep cave, high above the most inaccessable cliff of the plateau.
Any Gawd is worshipped if that is desired, but that is not the religion of the land. Reverend and his priests teach the worship of the six elements which forms all things. (yes, six!) Earth, Fire, Air, Water, Spirit and Time. It was the six elements who came together to create the Dragons, and the other of the First Races, and it was from those races that all other religions sprang.

The only excepton to worship it the absolute intollerance of anything demonic in origin or ideology. Demonkind and Dragonkind have feuded since the First Times, and shall continue to do so until the Final day.
Religion and ideology are the cornerstones of the populace and order. Naturally, the Priesthood is regarded as the topmost caste and theology is heavilly ingraned into the military as well as the craft guilds and populace.

Race: 65% human, 45% dwarven. (and one very special leader) All who have 'seen the light.'

Military breakdown:
200 Pikemen
500 Hv. Infantry
300 archers/crossbowmen
100 engineers
150 Skirmishers
50 Clergy/ War Priests

Population:
There is no specific breakdown for the 'commoners', however, every member of the colony is expected to do their part. Many are apprenticed under one of the skilled citizenery, forming a general labor pool or provide care for those who can not provide for themselves yet. Each does their duty in return for the care, protection, and guidance of the colony.

How's That?

Army breakdown
100 Dragon Knights- the elite of the elite, wear full armor and carry enchanted weapons called dragon blades, that can be spears, swords, axes, etc. any bladed weapon.

50 Archdruids-magic users of great elemental power. have wild animals (most often bears, wolves, or ravens) as familiars.

150 Warmages- proficient in combat and in combat magic, carry runeblades.

296 raiders- skilled warriors adept at guerilla raids. cavalry

300 Warriors- born of the warrior caste, skilled fighters governed by strict honour raised from birth to fight.

300 Conscript Churls- brave and skilled light infantry, the riada are warrior people.

100 Huntsmen- Skilled archers and trackers, sort of a special ops force.

4 Horsemen- 4 warriors of peerless skill and might. they are bound with druidic and arcane enchantments and given powerful runic weapons and armor, as well as bound spirit horses that they can summon at will. They lose their given names when they become horsemen and thereafter are known only as War, Death, Fury and Strife. (see my character list for details on the horsemen.) There is in actuality 5 horsemen, although one transcends them all and becomes Primarch, serving as the High Kings warchief.

i think i might play, but i need more explanation on how the people and distributing works( and other things). please pm me on details.

I would have to agree, your 'point system' is confusing.

Just farms alone do not match.... if 1 farm feeds 250 people (or 750, depending on where you look) then we need 10 farms just to support our begining populations and armies. If we use the 750 number, then we need 4. (3 and a half farms actually) So we only have two remaining points to divide between markets, warfare and mining.

Will there be any 'special advantages' for our groups? Example: The Riada's druids or my dwarves mining affinity.

How does plain old money work? Can we get gold/wealth and buy stuff?

Are we fighting each other or just whatever comes along?
