Strange strange times...

Today I just heard that someone that I recently asked out (and turned down) was murdered by her ex-husband. It's not that I knew her well, or cared for her much, it's just wierd. Not a nice thing to wake up to...

Dealing with that, and other various oddities makes these days fairly strange to me...

That is the same day I'm having. Today I've heard...

Yesterday, two girls - 7 and 11 years old - were out and about in a neighborhood 1 mile from mine - nice-ish neighborhood - a car pulled up and they grabbed the 7 year old and tried to get her in the car. The 11 year old grabbed her by the leg, and they were both getting dragged, but the 11 year old didn't let go. They were eventually dropped and the car sped off.

I can barely articulate how that makes me feel. My babies are 7 & 10.

Then a friend of mine called out of the blue (she had blown me off for so long that I thought she was mad at me) and said her 42 year old husband confessed last night that he is gay. Married 6 years, 2.5 year old kid.

The phone is staying on the hook for the rest of the day.

I've had a couple of odd phone calls and strange realizations this month. Nothing so severe, though I did find out someone I was friends with in high school is in jail for vehicular manslaughter. Her second.

I'm not watching network TV this week, or listening to commercial radio. I'm sticking with cable and my CD player. As for the phone, well a lot of people will be getting my machine and voice mail.

It's just going to be like that for a bit. Normality has a way of comming back around just when you're about to pop.

Wow BB, very strange indeed. A few years ago a former employer of mine was literally decapitated in her apartment by her lover 20 yrs her junior. I only worked with her for a short time but I was so freaked about it, especially since I had once stood in the very kitchen where it took place.

*knock on wood* Nothing horrible has happened around me recently.

I just found out that my cousin was almost killed this morning (5am) when a man broke into his home with a gun. My cousin fought him and was able to get the gun away from him, then proceded to beat the shit out of him (the guy who broke in). WTF?
