Hello All,

I reciecved the following two notes as feedback to my story My New Life. They were sent anonomously. I know not everyone will like my stories but I would expect that feedback would be constructive. I wonder if anyone esle has received similar notes, especially the one signed by Laura and Lisa.

Feedback no. 1.

"Jan, you are a devious submissive slut since you suck men and women. George, keep it in your pants. Sue, you are a nymphomantic. Dave, you are a male slut be having intercourse with your best friend's neighbor. Better end it not before
all of you get hurt. Laura & Lisa"

As you can see the comments are directed at the characters in the story as if they are real people.

Feedback no. 2.

"They are on the road to AIDS,... and fast... well who cares... wimps and slutwhorewifes.. hope these slimy people don't have any kids... lol"

I have recieved this same or very similar response to several of my stories over the last couple of years. Don't know if it is the same missguided fool or several people with the same bent minds. What I don't understand is, if these people don't like my stories or stories like mine, why do they bother to read them?

Just wondered if anyone else was getting this kind of note. If so maybe we should always post them here. Maybe we can send a message to these people and get them to stop wasting everyones time.

Dear K,
I'm afraid your expectations are entirely unrealistic. If you stick with your writing, you had better be prepared for more of the above.

I have been posting stories on the internet for about six years now so I am not surprised by any of the feedback i get. I just thought that if many of the authors here are getting the same kind of feedback, that is stuff that looks like it could be from a single source, we might be able to influence those individuals to stop wasting our time (which I doubt would happen) or at least we can all get a laugh out of their lame attempts to attack our work.

Dear K,
It is probably not from a single source. My readership, for example, is replete with a rich and varied supply of assholes.

Influence the readership? Good luck. I respond to positive or neutral, ignore the rest.

Ha ha, I'd say you're certified, Maths.

KK: welcome, and get used to it. MG's advice is best. Ignore them.

K.K.,
Laura & Lisa are the same two who told me to never, ever post another story on Lit. They are a couple of nut cases who are best ignored completely.

Because the readers are so varied on Lit so your feedback will be varied. Think of it in terms of if the reader so loved or hated the story that he/she took the time to send feedback, then you are doing some very right.

Strange Feedback

Jenny,
I got that same "Don't every post here again..." from Laura and Lisa yesterday. I do generally ignor this kind of feedback but I just thought it might be interesting to start a discussion about the strange feedback we all get but I guess I was mistaken.

Having posted as many stories on the internet as I have I can assure you that negative feedback doesn't upset me. If it did I would have to quite writing. I was just curious as to what other were seeing.

If someone ever sent me that message, they would certainly get a reply.

KK: to respond to your idea about a discussion. odd feedback reports are a regular item here. All discussions are the same as the responses you've rec'd above Hang around, you'll see.

Simple fact!!!!!!!!!

Take them both as a compliment KK, simple as that, your writing is good enough to suck these people so far in they think it's for real.

I've had a couple close but not quite as intense as these, One told me I was a sick woman hating fuck and should be castrated or locked up, or both, hehe!!
One just slagged off everthing from the content to the grammar and spelling, (presumably a US citizen, it was spelt in English).

I took the first as a compliment, the second as a bit of packing for the recycle bin.

Sad buggers no doubt and don't get into a slanging match with them if either ever post an address.

pops...........:D

No K.K.,
The thread is quite interesting. You did right. I started a thread about the worse cyber experiences some time ago. Last I looked it was up to 2500 posts.

It's always nice to share common experiences, even strange feedback and to find you are not the only one who gets it.

Strange Feedback

To Math Girl. I would have responded to Laura and Lisa but like everyone else who fires a scud missle they didn't give an e-mail address. I believ that these people make these comments only to get us upset. They aren't discussing the story or its merrits or short comings only an attack on the author or the characters in the story. Considering the sources of these notes they are easy to ignor but they are also somewhat amusing. That someone would take the time to read our stories and then act as if they hated them. Definitely odd behavior.

Research will only determine that Laura & Lisa are a psychopathic and her best imaginary friend.

Further research will uncover that both are psychotic, and in addition, both are imaginary.

They are the subatomic shards of a split personality, without enough personality to split.

Constructive Feedback

I think one in every seventeen or so feedbacks is somewhat constructive. Honestly I used to get about twenty feedbacks a day (I do have over 100 story submissions, so it's to be expected) directed towards my characters or written as if to "get with" one of my characters or myself...not constructive at all, not even amusing. Since I put up my funny/abusive profile, people have stopped sending me the feedback I hate so much, so only people who're serious about writing to me have written feedbacks. It's nice. It's relaxing. I can read a feedback and not get super angry. Ahhhh...peace at last.

Personally when I get such feedback I'm flattered.
When I post I use keywords and put my stories into the approprioate categories. So if my story can lead a person who supposedly hates lesbian sex and all things wanton to read the entire story, and give feedback I say I must be a helluva writer.

:D

I get very little feedback but most is constructive and helpful.

I think the length of my stories deters feedback. By the time they have reached the end of the story they need a beer, a meal or a rest. Those who perserve enough to send feedback are appreciated even if they don't like the story.

Don't get many votes either.

My magnum opus "The Worst Chain Story Ever, Chap 01" is stuck on 5 votes.

I seem to recall someone else on the boards mentioning Laura and Lisa, about how their cousin had sent them a story which led them to telling the author they were sick and that the character(s) should die some sort of horrible death because of what they did.

I think Laura and Lisa reveal more about themselves than about any story/author.

Like my dad said, your writing is good enough to suck these people so far in they think it's for real.

These are the people that write fan-mail "To Buffy" rather than Sarah Michelle Geller.

I'd go along with that interpretation. After my story "The Ice Cream Cone" came out I had a guy write and say that he'd surfed the Net trying to find the short film by that title!

Having read about people's attempts to actually find and purchase a copy of The Necronomicon after having read about it in H.P Lovecraft's stories, I was flattered out the wazoo.

Probably 80% of the feedback I get is something like,

"I read your Such and Such Story. I really liked the way you did the sex. Your tongue is so talented.

My cock is hard for your mouth. My email address is..."

Am I in any of my stories? Why am I always the last to know?

Jenny,
I think the problem in your case is that you are female. I sometimes get strange responses form guys who don't know until I tell them that I am a man. I just get the feeling that some men assume that if a woman writes an erotic story that she wants to receive lude feedback from her readers.

Another problem may be the picture you use in your profile. It suggest a certain amout of sexual desire. But please don't change it. LOL

Oh the Avatar? You'll be able to post one of those after about 97 more posts. That's not even me. (Although it's very close.)
