The other day I came home from work to find two Police cars parked in my yard. Wondering what was going on I looked around a little bit but didn't see the officers. A short while later I looked outside to see two more cars parked outside along with the local Police Community Services Van and a local News Channel truck. I finally got a chance to talk with one of the officers as they were leaving and was informed that a resident behind us had seen what they thought were human remains floating in the water. The police claimed they had investigated and found them to be the remains of several fish instead of human remains.

What I find strange about the whole thing, (and I am in no way saying anyone involved was not telling the truth because I did not personaly see the remains in question,) is one of the people who saw the remains is well educated and has seen both Human Hearts as well as fish remains before. How could they have mistaken one for the other? (For one thing I have yet to see a fish heart that looked even remotely like a human heart, not to mention the human heart is much larger than any fish's heart I have ever seen.)

This was not what I wanted to see when I got home from work. (I didn't do it, and if I did do it you can't prove it.)

You know Cat, David Caruso on CSI Miami just LOVES to hear the suspects say that. I'd be careful if I were you.

Possibly they saw the objects partially submerged, formed the hypothesis having not seen them clearly, and decided not to investigate closely given their initial impression?

It's odd what a strange light or angle will do. The other day, as we drove through a bank drive-through, the SO pointed and said, "Oh, no. Someone's lost their little animal backpack." I looked and saw exactly what the SO did - one of those little stuffed-animal backpacks that children wear, a grey one that was elephant shaped.

Then we pulled a little closer, and I saw first what the SO saw in a second. It was no such thing. It was simply a dirty, oddly heaped plastic grocery bag, partly in shadow and blown into an unusual shape by the wind. It would be difficult to imagine something less like what we'd both seen. But there it was, and we'd seen it exactly the same way.

What is the burden, always being the voice of reason?

I'm going to adore you, okay?

What I want to know is how this place survived withouth Yui and Shang these last several weeks.

I'm going to adore you both.

Helluva lot of adoration in a thread about dead fish. ;)

It's the beer. Sort of. I adore Sweden, too, as long it's okay with you.

There were fish?
