Hi everybody, true newbie here.

Q1: where is the best place to launch into a discussion of storyboard ettiquete anyway? (no spell checker, sorry). Obviously inside a going thread is wrong. The thread at the top of each section appears to be administration announcements (from people who know what they are doing) and I did not see chat-about threads in the story area.

Q2: who is in charge of advancing the plot? For example in the "captured" thread I am assuming that the thread starter is in charge of the aliens, and everybody who leaps onboard should just introduce their character (human) and wait for the starter to provide a scenario to react to.

Q3: what sort of reaction time should you expect? From the rate some fill, they appear practically interactive. Could be good if you know and have the time. Sometimes I would prefer to play weekly.

Q1's answer. Start a thread about the story in particular you wish to discuss... That simple.

Q2's answer. The thread started should be the one to keep things moving usually, unless he/she just throws an idea out to see how it fares with free reigh to do with it what the players wish... Those seem to fail rather quickly though...

Q3's answer. Responce time mostly depends on the people you have in your thread. I, for instance can do several posts in a night if I have someone else to play off of.

Most of the time. But I did one like that back in August and it lasted over 1000 posts. Just bragging. ;)

Hi Ravenloft,

Where would you have started this thread, for example. Here in General? in the relevant roleplay section? It was not really a CAPTURED! question, just a newbie question.

I like the idea of having a OOC thread alongside the story.

Only talking for the SRP BB

If people think they need an OOC thread to go with a story thread they simply open one - like : OOC for "this and that story".

The velocity in posting varies widely - as has been said before, depends on who you are playing with (and even then in a thread it may be almost too fast to keep up with at times - and almost seem to stand still at others, just to speed up again a little later).

As for moving a story onwards ... may be different with the SRP stories - usually they only are dealing with a restricted number of people and the "flow" is kind of "self-active". Alas, threads tend to die after a while - either by the action reaching the end, or by the fact that people just are loosing the fun and want to turn to new pastures.

All I can suggest is that if you are intending to play in a certain frequency or if there is a special topic you want to play, simply state it in your opening post so that others know what they are "in for".

Again, this is what I observed so far on the SRP board ... but I don't think it is totally different on the RP one, seeing it is the same batch of people hanging out mostly *S*

Ohhh - PS: all role play activities - sexual or other should be limited to the erspective boards

What she said. And, being a regular in both forums, I can say that it's pretty much the same in both of them. Only there's less sex in the ORP board. Note that the key word there is "less" rather then none. *Grins*
