Story views

I hesitate to bring this up, because on some level I don't care, and its not why I contribute threads or work on stories, but how is it on the 4th of January 2007,

that at least one story has at least 1100 views already. I don't care, and I hate to be petty, but on some level it bugs me. And yes, I know its easily gamed.

Ok, I feel better. Just forget it.

Views mean nothing. You can't tell how good a story is by the views it recieves. I also could not tell you how some stories recieve so many counts while others don't. HELL, the Chyoo FAQ has been viewed twice as many times as my Lost Identity story. lol.

Oh, well... it could be worse... you could have a story that has no views yet this month. Actually as of right now (Jan 6, 2007. 6:42 ET) there are 110 stories that have no views.

I realize that number of viewings has absolutly no relationship to how good a story is, I just hate that the site is being gamed.

Hence, 7114 supposed viewings for first 21 days of January for a story that will go unamed. Call me skeptical, but I find that highly unlikely. Ok, I'm done venting.

One thing to note is that the story in question has been the most updated story this whole month. It has constantly been on the top five list, and we all know that that usually means higher view counts.

There's been quite a few times during the last week where four or five of the ten most recently updated stories have been incest stories, all of which have had more than 1000 views each.

It's either a scam, or someone's good at promoting his story (with splash-effects on similar ones).
